Recorded a cover song today.

Had the day off work. A buddy was supposed to come to the house and do some recording, but he couldn't get out of his dad's driveway (icy).

Rather than completely waste the day, I did this:

Free For All

I plugged my Jazz bass straight into the interface.

I used my Agile 335 copy into my Weber 5E7M with no pedals...just cranked way up. Mic'd both speakers with Shure PG56s. One mic about 3 inches back, the other about a foot.

Weber 5E7M through a V30 and G12H30.

Thanks everybody.

Fantastic as always, Prages.

I really, REALLY like the tone of the Agile. Really surprised by it, actually.

The guitar does sound and play well. I replaced the pickups with Golden Age pickups from Stew Mac, and I put CTS pots, and switchcraft switch and jack in it.

That said, that amp makes any guitar sound really good, IMO.

That's just about a perfect choice for a cover song... those that like him certainly know the stong, those that might not like him, might not know that they shouldn't like it and those that remember are taken back.

Definitely diggin' the playing, man. Though that's no surprise coming from you.

Thanks for the comments, guys.

I actually got the music recorded for another song yesterday too, but by the time I got around to trying the vocals, my voice wasn't cooperating. I'll try to finish it up by the time Christmas weekend is over.

Very cool! Need to start doing this as well, but the drums take me so long.

I think it took me about 15 takes to get a drum track that was useable, and even then, I made a bunch of mistakes on the drum tracks. I'm a horrible drummer, but I am persistent. :D
