Members streetknight
If you're stuck in your playing and don't know where to go watch this video, as David highlights some of the most important things you should be learning as a guitarist. I've learned prodominantly everything I know from his videos and website. For the people that don't have the time for formal lessons, this is great. Maybe this will be some stuff you aren't working on that will help.
Members ashasha
this is the second video that I have seen here of this guy and I think that what I've seen so far is really good. I'll have to check out the website because I am in the same situation...need lessons but don't have the time to go to formal one on one lessons. It would be nice to be able to learn something at my own pace at 11PM on a saturday night.
Members zerkalo
I like this guy a lot too. My only beef with him is that he's a gabby sonabitch. Way toooooo much jibba jibba.
Members nautaki
Good advices. We are fortunate enough to have a *huge* variety of books in our disposal, they only thing is to find the time which is not hard if we are willing to suffer a little bit in order to gain something ( in the words of Ted Greene ). In think that at least as far as I am concerned, proper right hand skills and body posture is the key to many things and the part I find really hard to nail down. Many people can play arpeggios and stuff but what about a syncopated funky rhythm for a solid 5 minutes?
Members BlackHatHunter
I guess I don't understand what "I've learned prodominantly (sic) everything I know from his videos"... do you mean most of what you learned? I see it's the second time you post about this guy's videos. I guess I need to check him out. Thanks for the link
Members DaveAronow
Ive never seen him before, or heard him play, but... EVERYTHING this guy said was RIGHT on the money.
Members zerkalo
Well, I've been putting this off for so long, but I guess it's time for me to actually know the notes on my fretboard. I've been pretty lax with this.
Members samuraiBSD
Yeah, this guy's pretty good, and most importantly he understands that Epi is just as good as Gibson (and IMO, had a nicer finish than the Gibbo he was holding up for comparison)
Members 6mmSid
I used to watch his song lessons before the music companies got them yanked from YouTube, and I think he's a wonderful teacher. I'm going to sign up for his website now that I've parted ways with my latest teacher. Thanks for reminding me .
Members JG.
Agreed on all the previous positive comments. I came up on a few of his youtube videos by chance, and he's got such a down to earth manner and explains stuff really well. Here's a vid of him where he talks about cable quality and the differences between instrument and speaker cables and I actualy learned alot from it (I'm not too much of a tech or know much about electronics yet). Members aenemated
yeah, this guy's awesome. he does talk a bit much, but he really knows his {censored} and explains it in a way that's interesting and enthusiastic.
Members streetknight
I'm glad some of you liked it. He has tons of stuff on youtube. But his full on site is SO structured. I mean starts at "this is a guitar, tuners, bridge, etc." For the complete beginner. I started completely over when I found his site to erase any bad habits or techniques I had picked up. I'll agree, he does talk a lot, but he gets the points across. Oh, and I am in no way affiliated with him, just a very satisfied customer. I think there are over video lessons on the full site, and when I joined it was like $139.00 for a year subscription. Like one of you said If I want to learn at 11PM on saturday I can, if I don't get it, watch the vid again. I hope this helps some of you, it definately has me. Members Berserker22
nextlevelguitar.com +1000 My second yr just started as a premium member. He is very grounded, yet enthusiastic. The lessons have been great for me seeing that traditional lessons from a teacher is very tough because of my schedule. And the cost is way less than paying a traditional teacher. His Song DVD's are great too. He buys the rights to songs and breaks them down. Think there are about 16 songs now with varying degrees of difficulty. Members MickSlick
Thanks for the heads up on this guy, just subscribed for a month. He does a good job, the real deal. For just a bit more than a 1/2 hour lesson I get a month's worth of quality lessons covering wide range of subjects, and, I can do them at the time of my choosing and save gas to boot

Members 6mmSid
What do you mean by subscribed? Aren't the online lessons free?? Still confused... His website is a little confusing. Here's the deal: 1) He has several hundred video lessons, most of which are for subscribers. For instance, go to Video Lessons/Beginner Lessons/100-150, and click on any lesson. You'll get a screen that says "Premium Users Only", which means only subscribers can view it. Subscribers pay $29.99/month, $75/3 months, or $139/year. 2) He sells a lesson DVD for $99. It contains the first 75-100 video lessons. 3) There's also a section called "Free Videos", which currently contains 42 vids. These are the videos he uses to advertise his site. Lots of them are very cool, and they give you a good idea of Mr. Taub's teaching style and ability. Most of these vids can also be seen on YouTube. 4) He also sells song lesson DVD's. Each of these is a couple hours long, and he walks you through every part of the song. These lessons are really wonderful, IMO, and they are ONLY available on DVD. I suppose I should mention that I'm not affiliated with NextLevelGuitar.com in any way. I recently parted ways with my teacher, and did all of this research because I intend to join. 6mmSid

The song lesson dvd's not only teach you the song, but also techniques you must learn to play that song properly that you can use in all your playing after you've learned it.
