Members pourhaus
So, I recently decided to pass my GAS and get myself an Epiphone Dot using the Music 123 GEARUP/F__KUP. I have got to the third example. I decided the first one was a B-stock/2nd because the fretboard was as dry as the outback, and had weird grain to boot, and there were some visible flaws with the binding. The second one also went back due to binding flaws, plus it had something else in common with the first - no serial number on the back of the headstock. I got Epi #3 today - it is definitely the best example so far (they promised me a quality check before shipping, and said there was a new shipment from Epiphone). Now, #3 again has no serial number on the back of the headstock. Has this changed recently? I have looked at many eBay posts of Dots (had this GAS for a while, Beano did nothing), and if the headstock rear is shown, I have always seen either: - serial number stamped - serial number sticker - the dreaded "2ND" stamped Something important to note is that there is a serial number on the guitar - on a sticker inside the top F-hole. I'm a bit far from a Guitar Center to pop in & check their floor stock again, so if someone has bought a recent (fabrique en Chine) Dot, please set my mind at ease that they have not st00ged me again... Members Rusty_Chains
I bought mine about 2 years ago from GC and it was a natural finished floor model. The serial number was just a sticker on the back as well. Most of the new studios I have seen have them in the F-holes. I decided the first one was a B-stock/2nd because the fretboard was as dry as the outback, and had weird grain to boot Mine was not a 2nd but the fretboard also appears to be really dry and has a funky grain. I like it though. I just rubbed a lot of Lem oil on it the first day I had it.
Members donsimon76
Many of the new guitars I have bought have needed serious lemon oiling of the fretboard. Who knows how long some of the guitars sit in wharehouses.

Members pourhaus
Well, it sounds like it is plausible that having a SN on the sticker inside the top cavity means the guitar is legit. I got one similar indication from the Epiphone forum. Still waiting on an e-mail from Gibson support, just to be sure
Members ashasha
I just got a natural one from Music123 last week. No serial on the headstock at all. The fretboard was dry as the sahara too. Frets were funky, but a little never dull, some lemon oil, a slight truss rod tweak, a little messing with the action and a major intonation job (required turning the saddles around on a few strings) and it turned out incredibly nice. Finish is great, no flaws that I could see anywhere.
Members dot2dot
I just bought mine from a good sized local music store. It don't have a serial # on the headstock either. What bothers me is that the sticker that the number's on reads: " GUARANTEED against faulty wirkmanship and materials." ............. ??.... Maybe it's just me, but if you spell workmanship as wirkmanship, that's faulty workmanship! Does anyone have a refarted dot like mine???
