Members Spike Li
Ive been recently gotten into Paul Gilbert (thanks to Yngtchie Blacksteen for starting this thread ). Not only does it seem like he can play circles around anyone, he can really incorporate his technicality into his song writing too. Post some good clips of him if you know of any, id really like to get to know more of his stuff but its a bit daunting starting out because of his large library of songs..., ill start [video=youtube;j1TkzbUSlkw] [video=youtube;ES1RypBww_g]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ES1RypBww_g [video=youtube;nPGA3vjMLgE]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nPGA3vjMLgE

Members turdadactyl
Agreed. It's rare that someone that talented is as good a teacher as he is. It would take literally years to grasp everything that's on his Intense Rock DVDs, but they're awesome.

Oh yeah i forgot to mention too that he seems like a cool, really down to earth guy. He even has VIP lessons when he tours which seem totally awesome: http://www.paulgilbert.com/VIPSoCalDetails.html
Members BoneNut
Outstanding ability. Wasn't there a rumor he's also that bucket head guy?
Members Arr0wHead
Outstanding ability. Wasn't there a rumor he's also that bucket head guy? There was, but he isn't. Buckethead is Brian Patrick Carol. The rumor likely started because he was a student of Gilbert's. as seen here:
Members brianeharmonjr
Paul is easily one of my favorite guitar players, and a helluva nice guy. The thing I'm most excited about seeing from NAMM is some kind of production Fireman for a reasonable price. REALLY want one of those.
Members Brewski
Paul Gilbert = pretty much smokes every other guitar player on the planet, that simple. He understands the who, what, where, when and why of many many types of guitar music. He just happens to enjoy playing at a 10,000 miles per hour but can pull off soo much!! he is quite simply my favorite guitar player that although I try to emulate him - I lack any talent at all so it just sounds like garbledy-gook
Members Guitzilla
I love Paul. Especially, because he is willing to do stuff like this as well as the shred:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YqNajM6RDws&feature=related

Members straycat113
If I could take lessons from anyone it would be Paul Gilbert. There are a lot of really great players but that does not mean they are any good at teaching(ever see a Yngwie DVD). The guy can do it all and from the start just had a knack for teaching, besides being one of the coolest guys around. I would say checkout his approach to string skipping arpeggios, as they sound great and are a big part of his style and will definitely spice up anyone's playing. I love that tone he has on the solos to Green Tinted Sixties Mind with Mr Big and Norwegian Cowbell-solo.
Members sylvesterlowery
Paul Gilbert is definitely among my favorites in the "shredder" category. It always looks like he's so relaxed when playing some of the most obscenely difficult stuff. makes it look effortless, which is frustrating to watch for a hack like me! Much respect for the guy!
