Members Sailorofdarknes
Hello. Just discovered Guitar Fetish and I am very curious about the Neovin pickups. Does anyone use these, and which ones would be good for blues rock? For the price I want try some out! or would it be wise to just finish putting the expensive Seymour Duncan Rail pickups in my guitar?
Members diceman1000
if you're looking for really great, affordable Strat pups check out Rose Pickups www.rosepickups.com
Members Preacher
GFS makes a few strat sets obviously - I haven't read too many folks around here with neovins specifically, but quite a few with other sets. Hopefully they can chime in with their experiences. You can try emailing Jay at GFS for a recommendation also, he knows his pickups pretty well. Just let him know what sound you're looking for and be sure to be specific in your subject line - it seems like their spam filter catches everything with a suspect subject line. info@guitarfetish.com or jay@guitarfetish.com
Members w00dsy
i was looking at those Neovin pickups as well the other day. I found some good youtube vids that give a pretty good indication of the sound. I think Frets99 had a video or 2 up there of them, maybe he'll chime in as someone who has used them. Members Sailorofdarknes
Thanks guys! I went ahead and did some listening on You tube and they don't sound half bad at all! Especially for the price. Not worried about the output because I can't play to terribly loud anyway and it'll allow the amp to get closer to it's sweetness with out waking the Skipper (which I have done)! I am going to look at some of the rose pickups too.
Members brandass
I've got the Mega Texas set in a PRS SE EG. Overall very happy with them, particularly pos 1 (bridge only). The tweeners (pos 2 & 4) are too muddy for my taste, but it might be a function of the EG (25" scale, mahog body & neck). Light years ahead of the stockers, and good enough that I'm not really tempted to test other swaps. Thinking about modding for vol control over each pup, maybe cleaning up the tweener pos, but I'm lazy. GFS has a new noiseless SC design up now as well: http://store.guitarfetish.com/NEW-GFS-TRUE-COIL-Noise-Canceling-Single-Coil-Pickups_c_291.html Probably too new for much user feedback, but you never know. I've got a set of Rose HBs that are pretty nice, though poorly matched to the axe they're in. Haven't tried the SCs, but certainly will some day. Ken winds a nice pup, and he's a great guy too. Good luck, and please keep us posted.
