Moderators Ratae Corieltauvorum Posted January 11, 2011 Moderators Share Posted January 11, 2011 Only just discovered this 2005 (with a 2007 remaster) album, and it's quite a few different kinds of awesome, and then I notice it was recorded at the bottom of my village, bout 3mins walk away Here's the opening track, and a single I believe, and not least theres a lovely 52 LP and a Trussart in there to boot UuNuC6Ghfyw
Members larryguitar
Plant's done a good job of adjusting to the changes age has made to his voice; not everyone does that.

Very much in evidence on his latest offering Band of Joy as well:thu:

Members illinismitty
I saw him on that tour and met him backstage. He even gave me a copy of that CD. I don't care what anyone says, he still has amazing stage presence. I did not realize that it had been remastered. I need to get a copy because the original master sucks (it was a victim of the loud mastering trend)
Members Quarter
Great stuff, had almost forgotten about that one. I've really enjoyed Plant's work in recent years including his venture into country. I wish there were more radio stations out there that would give great music like this more exposure. Seems its all either hopelessly trapped in the past or all GaBieberLowPuff'nstuff junk.
Members Elias Graves
Love that one! I'm a fan of most all his material. Remember "Little Sister" from concerts for Campuchia? Good stuff. I've seen him both with and without Page probably 8 times over the years and he has always put on a great show. The Band of Joy show I saw this year was the best live show I've ever seen. He was in top form, not afraid to sing backing vocals and let someone else share the spotlight and Buddy Miiler is just a monster. He ripped it up! Moderators Ratae Corieltauvorum Posted January 11, 2011 Author Moderators Share Posted January 11, 2011 The new Album Band of Joy with Buddy Miller on there alongside Patty Griffin is well worth buying also, they did a recent gig at The Roundhouse for BBC's Electric Prom series and it ripped. With the sort of musicians and the place he's at I can't see him need Jimmy Page anytime soon [video=youtube;MC4ye3MeWgg]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MC4ye3MeWgg [video=youtube;RpP_qm7o9FU]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RpP_qm7o9FU [video=youtube;ryLYzDevbzM]
Members mosiddiqi
I absolutley "Mighty Rearranger"..just a brilliant record with terrific playing from all concerned. No bigger Zep fan than me, but I'd rather hear Robert do his own thing when the quality is this good rather than strain his way through Zep songs. I'd not come across Buddy Miller before, but I've certainly been looking at some of his other work since, great eclectic player, lots of variety and stuff goin on, love it
Members Elias Graves
I knew of him from the Raising Sand tour but that was the first I heard of him. I guess he's a long time Nashville studio guy as well as other stuff. His guitar collection and Swart amp rig was tops! That baritone he plays sounds killer. The Black Penguin he broke out was no slouch either. I was impressed with how tight the band was. I saw the second show they did on their shakedown tour and they were amazing. It was the fisrts show I've ever seen where the audience just kept getting louder and louder after it eneded. Everyone around me in the theater just sat there open mouthed when they heard his new takes on a few Zep tunes as well as the new material. I'll never forget that show! BTW is it just me or is Jools Holland a pretentious ass?
Moderators Ratae Corieltauvorum Posted January 11, 2011 Author Moderators Share Posted January 11, 2011 BTW is it just me or is Jools Holland a pretentious ass? It's just his way Doc, he's a tad "leftfield", quite eccentric, and oft pretty humble in many of his guests company
Members nuke_diver
I haven't heard the original post before. Excellent tune. I've always liked Plant's stuff after Zep but never got to the point of buying anything (though I did make an effort to learn 29 Palms) Seems I've been missing quite a lot
