Members Tubefox Posted January 12, 2011 Members Posted January 12, 2011 Question in title. I have an RG370 I'm thinking about just taking the single coil out of, because: 1. I never use it.2. It interferes with picking. Is there any sort of issue that can be caused by just removing it and leaving the slot empty?
Members Prages Posted January 12, 2011 Members Posted January 12, 2011 Other than it just looking a bit weird, no there's no problem in doing that.

That's kind of what I figured, but, since many people on HCEG know more than me about this stuff, I figured I'd check. Just in case. I'd hate to find out "Oh, and by the way, this can cause the electricity from your amp to flow through your guitar, fatally electrocuting you and burning your house down around your charred body."
Members Selsaral Posted January 12, 2011 Members Posted January 12, 2011 No burning fire, but chicks will dig you less.
Members Cobalt Blue Posted January 12, 2011 Members Posted January 12, 2011 Leslie West, when he was with Mountain, removed the neck pup from his V. He said, then, that he used the empty slot as an ashtray.
Members cbh5150 Posted January 12, 2011 Members Posted January 12, 2011 Malcolm Young played his Gretsch with only one pickup loaded...
Members craigny Posted January 12, 2011 Members Posted January 12, 2011 EVH had the neck pickup empty on his Les Paul.
Members WRGKMC Posted January 12, 2011 Members Posted January 12, 2011 You could just adjust it down so its flush with the pickguard or body.
Members Superrust Posted January 12, 2011 Members Posted January 12, 2011 ^^^ Does that really say 'Solid Gold frets'?? That doesn't make sense considering how soft they would be. Back on topic.. Malcolm Young..

Malcolm Young.. This is a bit unsettling: Criss Angel and Billy Gibbons at...wait for it...Ed Roman's. Heads up: If you were asked what model guitar Clapton's "The Fool" was, what answer would you give? [video=youtube;rfTw-ancTVE]

Members DaleH Posted January 13, 2011 Members Posted January 13, 2011 Strats were routed like this for years and they get raved about all the time.
Members Emory Posted January 13, 2011 Members Posted January 13, 2011 teles already come with an ash tray, so I guess that would be a cigarette holder to round out the smokers lounge.. probably get banned in California
Members mnhhngbfs Posted January 13, 2011 Members Posted January 13, 2011 if anyone asks about the hole tell them it's an "acoustic simulator"

Members Alecto Posted January 13, 2011 Members Posted January 13, 2011 I'd be concerned with sweat getting in there and messing up the electronics but that's all I could think of.
Members bluffalo Posted January 13, 2011 Members Posted January 13, 2011 i'd say the problem is your picking style.. just lower it right down.
Members danswon Posted January 13, 2011 Members Posted January 13, 2011 I don't know why people are telling you to lower it down or modify your playing style - if you don't want it there, just take it out
Members Mesa/Kramer Posted January 13, 2011 Members Posted January 13, 2011 Other than it looks Ugly as F*ck.....no problem.
Members Mesa/Kramer Posted January 13, 2011 Members Posted January 13, 2011 Did each one of the Guys in the Video have to pay Ed Roman $100 just to walk in the door? *Anti Tire Kicker Policy as mentioned on Ed's website.
