Can anything be done about the search engine for reviews here?

I used to like when I could type in, on google, the brand and the product and find harmony central reviews for specific products.

 

Now, even when I go to the green review page, some of my requests do not come up. I type in the brand and the product and it apparently does not exist. Then, when I type in just the brand, that same product that I previously typed in, appears somewhere at the bottom of the page. It's not like I originally did not type in the correct brand and then product, it just doesn't respond to particulars. It's frustrating.

 

The old search engine was far superior. Can we get seem of that old technology back? Don't know. Moderators, is this possible?

It's not about not paying attention. It's about work in progress. I honestly don't have an answer for you except to say that the intent was to keep the functional parts from the prior platform and move forward. I have submitted the request to the proper authorities and hope that we will either get the fixes you want or have a damn good reason for why it's different.

said it before, say it again: "If it ain't broke, don't fix it". The old one was fine. I've had the same confusing problems you above have. Drives ya nuts. Plus did you notice when they messed up this section that all of your old posts disappeared??? JEEZUZ do they work for the government or something?

Sorry for not getting back to everyone sooner on this topic. It has actually popped up in multiple places across the site, and as a system Admin I am unable to go through the entire site and find these conversations. Those that I do come across I try to address if I have anything to add.

 

As many of you know, we recently rolled a new look on our non-forum side, which is where user reviews now reside. If any of you go to www.harmonycentral.com there is easy access to reviews. Along with new look came some back end improvements to our user reviews to make them easier to find in a variety of ways. At this point, you can go directly to the page and conduct a search from the user review section and get a list of relevance matches. If you do not want to search, you can go to a category and then narrow the category down. For example Guitars > Electric Guitars. Once you get here you can filter by brands that are present in the category and also search/filter by model number.

 

We have done our best to improve this feature to make it a useful tool to our users. However, we realize that it may not be perfect. Because of that, we always encourage our user to provide us feedback. But please know that we need the feedback to be constructive and useful for us to make further improvements. As much as we love to hear from our users, it is hard to help if the feedback is "this sucks!". We want to know why it sucks and ways you think it could suck less.

OK..here's a question for you.

 

Are we ever going to have the search be able to do what it did before? ie when I go here...

 

http://acapella.harmony-central.com/search.php

 

and typed my user name into the user name box and hit enter.....it showed me every thread I had posted in regardless of who started it,,,and it highlighted them by most current activity so I could keep track of the thread's progress.

 

Now it only lists threads I started, or seems to be completely useless...just taking me to a list of the different forums.

 

Even the old broke search always was able to pull up my activity properly.
