Members Sailorofdarknes
HI! I got the GAS for a HAMER XT SERIES QUILT TOP they have at GC for just over 200 bucks used. Looks great and plays pretty good but has some set up issues. Nothing I can't fix in a couple of minutes. Anyone have experience with these guitars and can chime in about the pro's/con's or why I should just buy the Epi Dot I went in there for?
Members photon9
Get the Hamer. Unless you already found a dot that is extraordinary. Hamer's are a little hard to find usually. Dots are everywhere but a good to great one is also very hard to find. IMHO of course.
Members Belva
Hamers are the most consistent, quality wise I've seen. Always get way more than you pay for in that regard. Pups usually suck but some killer pups in one and you gots a serious rocker.
Members bsman
I've always been fascinated by the US Hamers, but I've never been convinced that the imports are any better than the other legions of MIK/MIC stuff out there...
Members rog951
Had an import SATF for a few years; very good guitar. Made in Korea I think. I've got a couple USA Hamers as well and they are unreal.

Yeah, I have experience with a USA Hamer, and the one I have is great. That seems to be the line on the USA's, but I have not seen a similar reaction to the imports. If it plays good and is a good price, obviously, then go to town!
Members Special J
If you like it, go for it. That seems like a decent price. IMO the earlier MIK Hamer imports (SATF, SATQ, etc.), were a bit better quality than the XT series, but I still find all of the imports at least on par, if not better than comparable Epiphones. I'll agree that the pickups are rather uninspiring on any of them.
