Yep, received my Malden Utopia a few days ago. Have not had much time to play it. But first impression is pretty good. Fit and finish are good. Neck feels nice, a bit chunky. Nice satin finish. The only thing wrong that i see is the e string tuning machine was mounted crooked on the headstock. Dont know if im the only one with a Utopia that has that minor problem (looks wise). I would rate this guitar quality wise just under a MIM Fender. Worth the $200.00 :)

(dont think i need to post any pics, lots have been posted on here)

I think you thought wrong. It's been a busy week and I haven't seen a single one. So, without further ado, please post at least one :D

I was thinking the same thing. In fact I think we've only seen only a few pics of (a single) Bulldozer, as well ...

Ha, ha....when my son shows up with my camera (good luck) I will post some pics. I bought the NOS blue one. I believe Trotter bought one also. I hope he chimes in.

Hey Ratbatblues sorry I missed this post. I got mine about the same time as you. My high E tuner was crooked too...kinda pissed me off. BUT when I went to fix it I found that the machine was just twisted a several degrees and easily fixed by loosening the tiny screw that holds it in place. Tightened it back up after straightening the machine and they are all lined up perfectly. :thu:

As for the rest of the guitar, pretty much flawless except they cut the B string nut-slot a bit too wide so it pings with string bends. I tore mine down because I am in the process of redoing the nut and dropping in a set of GFS lipstick pickups I have been saving for the right guitar. I also took the opportunity to install a GFS trem with a big brass block.

The neck on mine is amazing...nut width is between 1-11/16 and 1-3/4" and satiny smooth. I made a couple string trees from some scrap bone saddle stock I have. Looks pretty damned cool if I say so myself. Stay tuned for pics.

Mine was so far off kilter I thought sure I was going to have to plug the screw hole and redrill cuz no way in hell was I going to "live with it". I was pleasantly surprised how easily it was fixed. I think the tuners must have gotten twisted during shipping...thankfully no permanent damage.

These are great guitars. :whisper:

HNGD:thu: Luckily, or unluckily depending on perspective, the sunburst Liquid is now out of stock because I was getting really close to pulling the trigger even though I have absolutely no need for one. Not a big fan of Basswood so the black one that is still available doesn't appeal to me.

I know basswood is ugly (i.e. bland looking), but it really makes for a fantastic solid body guitar... especially in solid colors.
