I am left handed and can hardly hold a pen with my right hand. I picked up a right handed guitar for the first time, a strat, and had no problem. the dexterity involved with fretting seems much more challenging then strumming. I never understood the need for lefties to fret with the right hand. I actually thought to myself finally a situation that is beneficial to lefties, playing the guitar, you fret with your stronger hand.

I use to play right handed but it was hard to pick then when I switched to lefty I could pick so much better the fretting took a while to get better at but Im glad I switched cause now I can play songs that were hard before and they are lot easier.

BTW Im selling my Mark III and Im taking offers for trades for a lefty guitar + cash for my Mark III

When I can, I'll get a lefty. A Strat, I'll wait until I find a good lefty.

I look for guitars that turn well. An SG would be a prime example. A Casino or 335 too.

Some guitars, I say lefties can pogue mahoney. Like Rickenbackers. A few years back, they were about the same as others. Recently, they're like 2800 to touch. F that. Righties turn quite well. Got a 4003 bass and a 360 6 string that turn perfectly with no problems.

Old Gretches turn ok, but that Bigsby won't. Just a stupid design if you ask me.

My attitude is, there are a few really good playing guitars. And your numbers of actually TOUCHING the guitar before you buy it are in the realm of righties. I've returned more lefties than I've kept because I've found better playing righties.

At the end of the day, unless there isn't symmetry of the cutout, there's little reason NOT to turn one. Have a nice bone nut cut for you, a nice improvement over stock nuts.

BTW, after getting my Rick bass, I don't need my Kramer aluminum split neck DMZ-5000. Any takers? It's best described as a Jazz sound, but it's unique enough. Worthy sound though. Or I can trade for a Fender bass.
