Members Lonnie99
I've had that much money 3-4 times and went looking for gear. I always left the store with a used MIM Strat or Tele for $300 or less. Just can't bring myself to spend that much money on guitar stuff.

Members kadrocker
If we're talking new- Either a Gibson Les Paul Studio in worn brown mahogany or Gibson SG Special. Used- a Flying V or Explorer.
Members webwarmiller
Raw Walnut Tele Body along with a 1 piece Pau Ferro neck. Electronics I would have to think about ;-) If I had to buy an actual Guitar from a store for $1K then I would probably just go through as many Gibson worn brown Les Paul Studios as it took to find the right one. Members streetknight
I would probably look hard for a used Yamaha SA2200 I have a SA2200 and it's one nice guitar. Hope I never have to sell it. There are SO many guitars on the GAS list. Would LOVE to have another SG Classic or maybe something else with P90's. BUT, if I had a grand to spend today, I'd probably try to find a nice acoustic as I really need one.

Members GAS Man
It would depend upon what style of music I wanted to play with it. There are lots of cool guitars just sub $1,000 but without knowing what style you want to play, it's seems somewhat futile to start listing. But oh well, How about a Gibson SG Classic from MF for $999 -

Members Special J
I'd probably scope ebay for a nice used Hamer. This Mirage II would be a contender at $949:Other than that, I need a good acoustic, but I'd want to spend more than $1k on it, I think.
