I've been self employed since the early 80's.

Sole proprietor trucker.

I've been playing since....about 1967.

Played in lots of bands, was on MTV's Basement Tapes sometime in the 80's.

Do mostly fill ins these days.

For the last 10 years, I've been playing in praise & worship groups.

I'll hopefully be supporting children and teen music ministries at my local church.

My gear is used to play with.

I buy stuff to use.

Not to put in a trophy case.

alls Is knows is - you da man!!

Having lots of guitars can be a curse by some responses here.

I don't think I have to explain myself to the naysayers.

I've done something the last 2 years that I hoped I never had to do.

I sold guitars; amps and 2 classic cars to pay bills.

I appreciate the kind comments.

that sucks sir!!

lemme know if you plan on gettin rid of a PRS CE - I may sell some gear to buy and help you out

I was just curious what he did with all of them, if he collected them for investment (I guess thats pretty obvious). If he played them, how he got them, how long he has been building this collection. You know, "grilling" him so he would "spill the beans" thats all.

I have only traded post with Bbreaker a couple of times .So i wont even try to speak for him..I know for myself if i think about i have been playing since i was in the 6th grade..That would be either 1977 or 78 that i started playing so that would roughly be 34 years..In that time i have been threw a lot of guitars..I'm not sure exactly how many i don't think it would be over a 100 but it might not be that far from that..If i would have kept all of them my collection just like many others would be massive..So i would say if you want that many guitars keep them instead of trading them off like i did..

Haven't even bothered to read this thread - the title was all I needed to see.

My own answer would be - "Why the {censored} not???????????"

Because the jeallousy police will come and arrest him. You know, the people that are miserable about their own situations, so they try to make themselves feel better , not by achieving their own goals, but by preventing others ftom achieving or enjoying the results of reaching theirs. Its like the late great Neil Rogers from WIOD in Miami used to say, "It is not so important you succeed, as it is everyone elsr around you fails"

Bbreaker's pretty much has the most amazing taste in guitars, and the money to get them. He's awesome. I've never seen a bad post by him, not that I've been here long, but I don't see why so many people trash him just because he has more than them.

Sorry to hear about the financial issues though Bb, hope business picks up!

I think far more people are talking about other people trashing Bbreaker than trashing him on this thread. Everybody here is fixated on somebody else trashing him, which isn't really happening much. The original poster is trying his best to sound benign, even if the thread may seem designed to stir things up.

So settle down, people. Why go looking for bad feelings where none exist?

EDIT: I just wasted a few minutes scrolling through this, and the worst I can find is somebody suggested he doesn't have time to play them all. Ow, that hurts.

Actually, the worst things are go like "Some people say Bbreaker is X, but I think he's great."

If I were a shrink, I'd say some weird process of transference of jealousy is going on. But I'm not, so I say, God bless Bbreaker and his lovely, outsized collection.

Thanks for the props, Lou. I came in to this thread thinking that you would be taking some stick, and I was right. Bbreaker has a collection that I aspire to, but likely won't amass in this lifetime, but I sure am happy that I have what I have. When you have been playing and buying for as long as Lou, or myself, you see fads come and go, and what's out of fashion tends to go cheap. When the Floyd Rose craze hit in the early 80's, you could pick up Rickys and Les Pauls all day long for stupid cheap. I myself have been in musical sales for 30 years,so I have lived in music stores pretty much my whole life in a territory that nearly covers half of Canada. Pre eBay was the Klondike for deals, today not so much.

Lou has the eye to recognize good instruments, and is discriminating enough to want the best examples that he can find. His collection is the result of his good taste, and dedication to the pursuit of the guitar. He deserves them, and I quite enjoy his contribution.

About 2 years before ebay started up, I bought a '76 rickenbacker bass for $425... no {censored}

When I think of how much I've lost between my 401K and condo value, it could have funded a pretty large collection of guitars. While guitars are a notoriously bad investment return-wise, just breaking even would have been better than retirement funds and real estate. For connoisseurs like Bbreaker whose collections are full of carefully chosen pieces, I'd say they've taken a smart and satisfying road.

I think you make money when you buy a guitar (if it's the right price).

I've been fortunate to find good deals on much of what I own.

I recently traded off my '89 Blonde Gibson ES 175.

I was the original owner.

I bought it new in 1991 for $849.00 (including tax & case).

I traded it for a PRS Singlecut 10 Top with a full Rosewood neck.

Debatable if I got the best possible deal but I'm worn out from dealing with tire kickers and BS'ers on CL.
