Most people here would give their left nut to have a collection like Bb's which is why he gets a lot of hostility on this board.* Personally, I'd say he's living the dream for a bunch of us: having a lot of disposable income he can drop into some pretty sweet instruments. I've been tempted to start amassing a collection like his (very slowly!) but I'm still enough of a player that I'd be terrified of taking some of those beautiful guitars out to a gig and have them damaged or disappear. Besides, my wife is trying to institute a "one-in-one-out" policy and I don't want to push my luck.

*Unlike Guitarmandp, who proves that a ton of money doesn't automatically give you any class.

Happens to most of us eventually I guess. I've actually improved to a several out/one in policy lately that my wife is a HUGE fan of.

Well, it helps that my wife plays bass so she has a milder case of GAS. She knows I'm responsible about paying the bills and taxes so we're financially secure. I've also showed her a few photos of other people's collection in order to drive home the point: "I'm not THAT bad!" ;)

I'm also working on her to get rid of a Univox P-Bass copy (her first bass) and a MIM Fender Jazz she has sitting in the basement. They're both POS's that she hasn't played in over 6 years and she's hanging on to them purely for sentimental value. That's raising a few questions I would've preferred NOT to have raised.

To checkout others collections is one of the reasons i come to HC forums..I know players here in town that say my collection of gear is excessive..I own 15 guitars and 6 amps and other assorted gear..

I enjoy looking at guitars and talking ,playing and everything guitars..The most valuable guitar i own does not get played at all and is a case queen IMO it is also the worst sounding guitar i own ..Only 5 get played regularly ..Thats my choice ..Just as its Bbreakers choice what he does with his gear..

I enjoy looking and discussing guitars wither the person on the other end owns 1 guitar or a 1001 ..

What I like about Bbreaker is that his collection isn't a result of having more dollars then sense. I wonder how many of those guitars were bought back when every squirt had to have a Floyd Rose & you could barely give away a Gibson. IMO, Lou probably saved some nice guitars from being butchered.

I had a guy tell me mine was excessive today.

1 acoustic, 1 tele, 1 hollowbody, 1 solidbody (arrives tomorrow), 1 amp.

I mean, really? For real for realz?

I love checking out Lou's guitars. What I love even more is his humility and willingness to share.

Having lots of guitars can be a curse by some responses here.

I don't think I have to explain myself to the naysayers.

I've done something the last 2 years that I hoped I never had to do.

I sold guitars; amps and 2 classic cars to pay bills.

I appreciate the kind comments.

That is your money and you can do what you want with it. It's not anybody else's business!

Ouch. That does sting quite a bit. I've been there via a car accident and medical expenses from it. I hope I'm never put in the place to have to give up my #1, because if I did, It would really really hurt. It's not even that expensive a guitar, but a LOT of memories are tied into it.

Having a lot of guitars is overrated. I'm not really sure if I'm beating Bbreaker or not. I have 112 guitars.

The problem is there are only 24 hours in a day. What ends up happening when you have 100+ guitars is that you have a couple of favorites that you play all the time. You have a favorite strat, favorite tele, favorite les paul, etc... and the vast majority stay in their cases. It becomes a painting after a while.

You can only play one guitar at a time unfortunately.

Bbreaker What kind of freight do you haul? Just interested as a Self employed truck driver myself. And I noticed you said your freight was in the crapper. Things have kind of picked up for me the last few months. So it's good to be busy in January for a change. But than again I haven't been home since last year.

I do same day light trucking with a 5500 lb maximun.

Most of my trucking is within a 150 mile radius of my home base.

Jobs pay well but I don't have enough.

I need 10 truck jobs a week to be comfortable.

When things were good, I was getting 25 to 35 truck jobs a week.

Last week I had 1.

Tomorrow, I have 3 truck jobs.

Before DHL bought Air Borne, I had an agreement with the Eatontown, NJ office.

I was doing 40+ stops a day with my Jeep Liberty at $20.00 per delivery. That's $800.00+ a day. I was going to sell my truck....then when DHL bought Air Borne, they went Teamster and all independents were out.

Good things don't last.

Keep in mind, if you have a truck that's doing interstate deliveries, you need to have a federal DOT #.

If you deliver hazardous freight, there's other rules/federal endorsements.

There's also road tax; motor freight endorsements and all sorts of licensing/fees that are mandatory.

Oh yeah, there's plenty of DOT inspectors out there and weigh stations.

Commercial/cargo insurance is a fortune too.

Bbreaker owns every guitar I've ever wanted plus some that I wouldn't. I'm constantly blown away ( and hey, I'm human, probably more than a little jealous) by the sheer number of guitars he owns. Amazing really. Lou ( I don't know you, but I couldn't resist), you're a legend.

Tell me about the weigh stations. I have an Oversize load on right now. And I have been in every scalehouse From LA to Ohio. And I still have West Virginia and PA to go through tomorrow. It's pretty sad that I am on a first name basis with most of the scale masters in the U.S!!!

There are other HC'ers that have loads of cool gear..............GreatDane; Armitage; Guitarmandp; Blackhathunter; Azcat; Flogger59....I love to have us all meet and each bring 10 guitars that are special to us. Play em; jam; talk shop....fun stuff. We'll wow ourselves to the point of being humbled and realize that were all fortunate.

i'm honored at the mention, Bb. and i'm humbled everyday with the gear i'm fortunate to own. thank you!

I know there are weigh stations on US 70; US 81 and not too many on the PA Tpke.

US 81 is a great driving road through Pa.; Maryland; West Virginia & Virginia (it still has weigh stations).

I use 81 when I go to Nashville (to US 40 west).
