Undecided - New Squire CV Tele or P-94s in an Epi SG

I've been gassing (I suppose) for a new guitar, but I'm actually happy with my stable as it is (Ric 330-12, Casino, JM, Tele, etc.). I started looking at the Squire CV Tele ('50s, pine body) and it's a really nice guitar for $350 - I know that I would be happy with it.

Problem is that I bought an Epi SG last year (just for kicks - I wanted a beater to sit next to the computer and really ended up liking it - short-term), but the stock pups are pretty muddy clean. After the honeymoon, I didn't really want to pick it up. So I thought about putting Gibson P-94s in it. Seem like nice pickups.

For $200, I can replace the pups in a guitar that will actually probably make me want to play and record with it or I can just get a sweet, cheap Tele (and I already have a AmSt Tele that's one of my go-tos). I don't need either -

Really on the fence about this. Help push me one way or another --- I'm leaning toward the P-94s...

Opinions?

I decided to get the Tele and went to Sam Ash today (they had 2 really nice ones last weekend) and both were gone. GC had 1 but it was the one on the wall and it was beat.

Just playing my Ric today. Forget it. I'll probably replace the pups on the SG sometime. Just digging the 12-string today.

Maybe it was a good sign. Who knows?

I bought the Tele.

GREAT guitar for less than $400. The finish (although being a little heavy) is pretty much perfect and right out of the box even the intonation was spot on. I'm going to swap the nut and put on .11s, but other than that, I don't think that I've ever bought a new guitar that was such a cool thing to play. Love the thing - Don't know why I waited so long.

(The pups aren't as hot as my AmSt, but I guess that goes along with the '50s thing. May put on compensated saddles later, but - Damn, what a great little guitar....).

Thanks! You were soooo right...
