I traded a Lite Ash Strat for a Epi Les Paul today. It has a 1 piece maple top finished in blueburst and weighs a ton. He said he got it from Mars Music and it was a special edition for the store. The guitar has a few great upgrades. Graphite bridge, locking tuners, and burstbucker pickups installed. There are a few frets that will need the edges sanded down, but as far as I can tell, this is as nice or nicer than most Gibby Les Paul's I've owned.

Dude even threw in a GFS FatPat humbucker because the bridge humbucker was cutting out. Turns out it was just a cold solder joint on the volume pot so now I've got an extra humbucker to play around w/. Maybe I'll throw it in my McCarty and see if it sounds better than the stock PRS pickups.

Score!

Yep the epi les pauls are always better or comparitable to a real lespaul. Were trained to say stuff like that.

Dude, I'm not just fooling myself here, I've had about 15 Gibsons and I know the difference, I'm just saying this is one of the nicer Paul's I've played and better than some of the Gibsons I've played.

With that kind of hands on experience, I'm sure you don't have any problems evaluating a guitar.

:thu:

Congratulations on the new guitar!

The ones I've picked up recently weren't much different in weight than a telecaster. I wonder if there is a specific time when gibson/epiphone decided lighter LPs just sell better and focused on lighter ones and chambered ones. I like the sound of the lightweight traditional pro I tried.

Congrats. Personally, I think the blue quilt finish is sexy........ I'm not a Les Paul guy by any means, but I would have thought really long and hard before passing that one up.

I'm a big fan of Epiphone. I'm not surprised yours plays better than a Gibson. I actually prefer my Epis over my Gibsons.

Dude I have 3 real ones and 5 epi knockoffs. No they don't they can be modded to come in the park but sorry.

Congtats on the guitar tho my epi's get played out all the time. Nice guitars that you can afford to mess up.
