Members virtuzoso
Hey guys, I got some new GFS pickups ( the Texas Greybottoms, which sound FANTASTIC) and decided to do some wiring also. I did this blender mod: My problem is my master tone doesnt seem to do anything. I am using 250k pots for everything but the tone one ( it is 500k Audio taper) and using a .047 orange drop cap. I've triple checked the wiring and cant seem to find any mistakes. Everything works great except tone control. It has no effect. Any ideas?? Members k tone
I think you may need to ground the back of the tone pot. The cap to ground through the pot is what the tone control does.
Members k tone
According to this diagram all of the pots are grounded

Members Belva
Bad cap? A guy at DIY has a related joke about a guy calling him to troubleshoot a problem. "Hold the thing up to the phone so I can see it!" That's what's going on here. You may find the problem with the advice given here but, without actually seeing and testing this geetar, none of us can be sure.
Members stratrulz
If the CTS pot doesn't do anything and your wiring is good, I'd say it's a bad CTS? I actually had a Blender Pot from Lindy go out on me? I've never had any of these things go out on any guitar I've owned, so I guess it happens. Members J-E-M
If you're not fully shielded you have to run jumper ground wires.
Members virtuzoso
I will put some pics up tomorrow when I have time to take it apart again. I did not ground anything to the back of my pots however, I shielded the back of the entire pickguard and the entire body cavity with conductive aluminum tape. I ran all of my grounds to a single point and grounded it to the shielded body cavity. Ive got a solid connection with grounds ( checked continuity with my multimeter). Is it possible my cap value or pot values are to blame or should I start trouble shooting for faulty components?

Check that your tone cap is in fact grounded.
Members Belva
Do you have the pots grounded at all? In theory you'll get a good ground with proper shielding of the cavity AND the p/g but then they'd need to be grounded together. I'm not sure I follow how you're getting a good path to ground. Hold the guitar up to the computer so I can see it.:poke:
