Members bdv1pro
I learned to play guitar on a V style guitar. I recently sold it and bought a Strat. Long story short I dont like it and i'm in the market for a new V. Looking at Jackson KV2 USA and ESP standard V-II. I have no where I can hold or play either guitar so i'm going to order blind. Hoping you guys can help. If it helps I had a Dean VMNT and liked it but wanted to try a different brand this time. One more thing, I dont have experience with a Floyd but I didn't think it would matter since I dont change tunings to often if at all.
Members slvrsrpnt
I don't know much about the ESP model, but the Jackson should be very similar to the Dean VMNT as Mustaine had his signature guitars created around Jackson specs ..... it is a very non-Dean like guitar as far as neck profiles go. Members kayd_mon
The only V I've ever played was an Epiphone one, so I can't comment on the model specifically. However, I have played Jacksons and ESPs. In my experience, the Jacksons sounded and felt better.
Members GCDEF
If I were looking for a mid-priced V, I'd be looking at the Reverend Volcano and the Schecter V-1.
Members fiveoclockhero
I'm not an expert on this topic at all but based on what I've read, people prefer ESP's to Deans in terms of quality by a fair margin. Switching from a Dean to an ESP would be a step up (I have no idea why Mustaine likes that company so much since many seem to think they've seen better days.) Are you really getting an ESP Standard instead of an LTD? If you've got the money for it, I bet this would be right up your alley: A lot of people like Jacksons, though. I think you'll get a lot of votes for Jackson and if the Floyd Rose trem system truly doesn't bother you, I think they'd be equal contenders. But sometimes that FR DOES matter. I hate them and have no use for them and it seems like you are already used to playing guitars without them... BUT it's really up to you.
Members (o)(o)
Personally I'd go for the Jackson. Both USA Jacksons and Japanese ESPs are very well made, but the necks on ESPs are thinner and I've found that they can be "flexible". That is to say one has to be careful or pressure on the neck can cause notes to go sharp.

Members Yarbicus
The best V I have ever played was an LTD DV8R Mustaine sig. Local pawn shop still has it, I think. Vs aren't really my thing but I was tempted by that guy.
