I'm glad it's not an official Fender product because if Fender endorsed something that dorky, I'd be embarrassed for them.

Also, if you DO use a man bag (or "messenger bag" or "tote" or whatever you want to call it) you're supposed to have it slung over the opposite shoulder. If you have it on the same shoulder as the hip it's resting on, it's a purse.

It's only 'unmanly' if you actually care what other people think of it. ;)

Right. What we would call a 'satchel' in the Old Days in the US is still carried all over Asia. However, the straps are L-O-N-G and the bag is carried behind the hip. If it's a safe area, it's over the near shoulder. If it's a less safe area, the bag's slung over the far shoulder to deter theft. I have never seen them carried on short straps, under the near arm, with that prissy grip that has suddenly become popular with these trendy man-bag carriers. :idk:

I guess I just prefer a backpack...always.

I've been carrying one of these every day for the past seven years. I rarely carry work-related stuff in it so it is, in essence, a purse. Since I take public transportation to and from work, I need to have some "stuff" with me -- phone, iPod, Kindle, books, tabs, etc. and I don't really give a flying {censored} what anybody thinks. If you are unable to bring with you what you need because you're afraid of what someone's going to think regarding your "manhood", I think you are the farthest thing from manly...

I carry a "messenger bag" or whatever you want to call 'em. And I'll tell you this: I commute everyday to NYC and I can't tell you how many complete dumb {censored}s who use backpacks have them stuffed to the point where they stick out like a {censored}in' foot and a half out behind them. No exageration. And here they are on crowed train platforms, or subway cars and they move around like there's nobody else around them. Completely oblivious. I've seen people get clocked by those things. At least if they wore them down near their hip or even held them by the strap down low it'd be a little less obnoxious.

I'm a teacher. I carry a messenger-style bag to work every day; it's necessary given the things I need to bring with me. I don't care if it's perceived as a man-purse. I'll even call it that sometimes. Gender stereotypes are for the overly self-conscious.

A backpack doesn't look right in all situations: when wearing "business" attire, for instance, it makes one look like a student, not an adult.

That Tele-bag doesn't look right for other reasons. It's just kind of silly -- like a guitar-print novelty necktie or something else that a dorky middle-aged dude would wear with his beret to a blues jam. And those fake-leather bits are tacky as hell. No thanks.

What surprised me is the number of people in Asian cities who have small rolling luggage with them all the time. That's one of the popular choices for this same all-purpose-cargo duty. At first I was expecting to see them getting into cabs for the airport, but nope - they're out shopping, with their wheelie luggage behind.
