Members sk8centilli Posted February 2, 2011 Members Posted February 2, 2011 I just heard the term "Thundersnow" because it is lightning in the snow storm over Iowa/Illinois and is supposedly heading towards to Kalamazoo - woo hoo!

Members cbh5150 Posted February 2, 2011 Members Posted February 2, 2011 The wind is really getting unsettling. I hope we keep all of our windows:(
Members Flatspotter Posted February 2, 2011 Members Posted February 2, 2011 Went to work today; we got about 6 inches. The big one is tomorrow, 12"+. This is our 4th (at least) 18"+ whacking this winter. I am really sick of snowblowing and shoveling.
Members Lump Posted February 2, 2011 Members Posted February 2, 2011 My wife runs an in home daycare, she had like 12 kids here today because school was canceled, and it's already been canceled again tomorrow. I'm going to work even if it's closed. No way in hell I'm staying here all day.
Members sk8centilli Posted February 2, 2011 Members Posted February 2, 2011 no snow today, but i might have to put a hoodie on in a bit ... I like my trees with a little more meat on their bones.
Members BlueSky1963 Posted February 2, 2011 Members Posted February 2, 2011 Yep, good thing about living in Arizona, no snow! Bad thing, no snow days! I gotta work tomorrow! And of course they're predicting a freeze the next 3 nights, so that means I have to spend the next 3 afternoons covering trees and shrubs when I get home from work!
Members Bbreaker Posted February 2, 2011 Members Posted February 2, 2011 I had truck work today.Ice storm tonight.I have truck work tomorrow.I'm workin'.
Members GreatDane Posted February 2, 2011 Members Posted February 2, 2011 i worked from home today. basically that means a lot of teleconferences and email back and forth. at the end of a day like this, i feel like i need to surgically remove the phone from my ear. tomorrow is supposed to be 4-6" of ice. lovely. more teleconferences. maybe i'll put the phone on mute and play some guitar...
Members vintage clubber Posted February 2, 2011 Members Posted February 2, 2011 supposed to be in the 60's here tomorrow...
Members Flatspotter Posted February 2, 2011 Members Posted February 2, 2011 i shoveled my roof today.I've shoveled mine at least 4 times this winter. I'll need to do it Saturday morning, as we're supposed to get more snow/rain Saturday afternoon/evening.

I'll need to do it Saturday morning, as we're supposed to get more snow/rain Saturday afternoon/evening. there's something really surreal about shoveling off your roof. when i was up there, i could help but think about people who ride around town on their riding lawnmower. so random, but i'm laughing now even as i type this. too much wine, i'm sure.
Members kulardenu Posted February 2, 2011 Members Posted February 2, 2011 I have the first snow day off at my job in Michigan since Nixon was in office. Started 3 1/2 hours ago and so far nothing much to phreak over. But having a cold one and enjoying it anyway...
Members Mechanoized Posted February 2, 2011 Members Posted February 2, 2011 With any luck tomorrow will be spend between recording some new tracks and a trip to grab some bourbon. Here's hopin', bring it on snow!
Members fiveoclockhero Posted February 2, 2011 Members Posted February 2, 2011 Everyone seems to have gotten buried but here in Pittsburgh, it's just fine. We've had rain and it was a bit icy this morning but nothing that made it impossible to drive. It's just a hair warmer than it has been, which is a good thing. I am puzzled why the Snow Gods spared us this round? All winter it's been moderate, just an inch or three every few days. Maybe we paid it forward with the record-setting month of Feb 2010. That was enough snow for a few years.
Members notjonahbutnoah Posted February 2, 2011 Members Posted February 2, 2011 DAY 2, BITCHES. I am off!!!! Wish I had some recording gear.
Members smorgdonkey Posted February 2, 2011 Members Posted February 2, 2011 We have lots of snow and more coming today with freezing rain forecast over night...but we're in Canada...the schools will close and nothing else will.
Members notjonahbutnoah Posted February 2, 2011 Members Posted February 2, 2011 Heh, it's nutty here. Everything's frozen solid. I can jump up and down and not break the snow. There's also broken ice shards all over the ground from the trees, looks neat. I'll prolly post pics in a bit.
Members notjonahbutnoah Posted February 2, 2011 Members Posted February 2, 2011 Bored, so here are some pics:It looks like regular snow, but its all solid. It's like everything is covered in white, freezing, SLIPPERY asphalt. Check out my steps, you can kinda tell...Here's the car, the wipers are completely frozen into a block of ice. It's kinda pretty, cept all the branches from the storm just sit on top of the ice instead of everything being all nice and powdery...
Members smorgdonkey Posted February 2, 2011 Members Posted February 2, 2011 That's one 'mighty' ice storm! When expecting weather you are supposed to leave your wipers 'up' off of the windshield...it's so easy to wreck them when you are scraping ice that thick off of the glass.
Members notjonahbutnoah Posted February 2, 2011 Members Posted February 2, 2011 That's a god call. I think I knew that, but last time it iced like this, I was about 13 or 14. At least I have a car that can idle forever and not use much gas. Melty melty.
Members Elias Graves Posted February 2, 2011 Author Members Posted February 2, 2011 Day two here as well. OKC doesn't have snow plows. We wait for it to melt. EG
Members ajympt Posted February 2, 2011 Members Posted February 2, 2011 We are just waking up to the aftermath- I ended up spending the night at work because the hwy back home was closed ( and still is)-now none of my staff can make it in and my car is basically drifted over so apparently I live here for a while-alas, I have no guitar so I guess I will do some work-damn.
