Members Santuzzo
Hi, I got this new cheap 7-string (http://www.thomann.de/gb/harley_benton_hbr7_450_frbk_7string_egitarre.htm)and its neck has no finish on it. It feels nice, but I noticed it can get dirty or greasy pretty quick. What can I do to protect the wood of the neck ? Would it be a good idea to clean it with fine steel-wool? Is there some kind or wax or oil I could put on it? Thanks,Lars

Members DaleH
Wall-mart here sells a spray tru-oil that works well. It is in the sporting goods section. Just spray it on and rub it in, let dry.
Members everlight44
You could finish it with some spray lacquer. Probably $10 for a can, then lightly sand and spray a couple coats on it. You have to be pretty meticulous to make sure you don't get any "running" but I finished my Carvin neck with pretty good results.
Members rusholmeruffian
I'd use a couple coats of hard-drying oil like teak, tung, or Tru-Oil, then a carnauba wax over that. On the other hand, I've also gotten beautiful results from spraying a couple coats of shellac and then a couple coats of satin polyurethane. YMMV. Members StevenJM
truoil x 1000 if you're just looking to seal the wood so sweat and dirt isn't a problem then put a coat or two of truoil on... its cheap too.
Members mnhhngbfs
another vote for tru-oil here, it's easy to work with, has a pretty quick drying time and feels great as well.
