I thought the '61 was 3 pickup in off white with gold hardware enscripted with 'Les paul Custom'?

OK,

my bad.

Maybe that was 1962?

And this black one was the 1961?

I learn something new now I just didn't know before.

Seems there's always someything going on like that.

I forget what I read.....

Nah, you're pretty much right. This is just a new model. Probably will be limited production like most of their anny stuff. Interesting that it has 24 frets. I don't think any of the conventional model SGs had that feature so it seems a bit out of place in an anny model. Still, I like it...I'll be looking for one on the used market at some point!

The 1961 SGs/Les Pauls were offered in standard and custom. The standard was cherry, with 'Les Paul' engraved on the TRC. There was a gap between the end of the fretboard and the neck pickup covered with a piece of black plastic. The custom was white with gold hardware and three pickups. The piece of plastic between the neck and pickup was white and had 'Les Paul Custom' engraved on it.

24 frets...I guess they figured they might as well put two more frets in the gap. Who knows?

Nice looking guitar...not something I'm particularly looking for.

I like the price, I like the specs, I like SGs .... I'm not sure why it's a Anniversary model exactly, but I like it. Would make a kinda logical step up from my own 24-fret SG (Epi Iommi) but not as steep a step as stepping up to a Gibson or Eggle Iommi. Not really shopping though.
