Members madrigal77
I haven't seen this posted here yet. I haven't decided if I like it yet, but it sure is a hell of a lot better than the EX line. Your eyes aren't deceiving you. The James Hetfield Snakebyte is a brand new body style for ESP and LTD in 2011. It has a set-neck construction at 24.75" scale, with a mahogany body and neck, and an ebony fingerboard with 22 XJ frets. The Snakebyte comes with a bunch of high-end components, including Sperzel locking tuners, Schaller straplocks, a Tonepros locking bridge/tailpiece, and EMG 81 (bridge) / EMG 60 (neck) active pickups. You can get the James Hetfield Snakebyte both in ESP and LTD versions, and both are available in two finishes: Black and Snow White, featuring a pearloid snake inlay on the fingerboard. Members TomCray
Good specs, meh looks. Reminds me of the Gibson sharkfin, it's like the precursor to it.

Members bluffalo
Don't doubt that it's an awesome guitar, and would play it, but I like the original explorer shape much better, so I wouldn't buy one.
Members Kevman
Is it any less or more ugly than the Rondo offerings that is is similar to?
Members A_Gitarman
Is it any less or more ugly than the Rondo offerings that is is similar to? The Rondo guitars are just knockoffs of the old Ibanez destroyers: Even though I don't care for the overall shape of that ESP thing, I do like that it has 1) an ebony fretboard and 2) a beveled top (can't think of how many times I've cursed my Exploders as the lower 'wing' is digging into my forearm )
Members Kevman
Yeah, it's not bad. I'd wait for the non-JH version though. Also I'm NOT digging the new logo or headstock.

Members angry again2
I dont like it either. kinda looks like a klunker even though i'm sure it plays great. Goofy looking headstock, gawdy inlay at 12th fret, wrong body design. Like someone took a ferrari and reassembled it in shop class. His sig guitar though, so his choice. At least no abalone binding, that would have been icing on the cake!!

Members noisebloom
I saw Hetfield play that model on the Big 4 DVD. I think the body shape looks kinda ridiculous, but I really dig the headstock shape, even though it's very 80s.
Members jumpwin
That is butt ugly! It's a shame to. I bet it plays like a dream!
