How much were the retrotrons? Are those Gretsch/DeArmond pu's, or copies?

good thing I'll be getting money for Christmas
:D

Hell yeah it sounds as good as it looks! I have flatwound 11-50's with pretty low action, and I play it through the the Fender twin model on my PodXT. Great jazzbox. Even Gibby snobs are surprised at how close it comes ... :D

The good news is that its set up nice, right out of the box, no crackling in the pots, neck is straight, frets smooth. Sounds more or less like I thought it'd sound through my amp. bigsby works alright. It sure is pretty too (seafoam green).

The bad news is that there's some noticeable discolorations in the binding, and the "artcore crevice" (behind the neck pup) seems to have a layer of what appears to be glue on it. Its rough and unfinished looking, and when I swabbed it with a cotton swab, it tore the cotton right off! You can't see it unless you're examining the instrument up close, but since I know its there...

I suppose its what you'd expect for a $290 guitar bought sight unseen.

Well...I'm going to go get a sandwich and think this over.
