When I had mine, a good set of humbuckers would push overdrive by about 4 on the volume control. :D They are some OD machines!

I'm thinking of getting another. Perhaps the head/cab version this time though.

I've owned 6", 10" and 12" amps, but never an 8". The 6" isn't enough but I find 10s nice and tight. How's the 8 stack up to the 10?

Yeah, a lot of folks call the AC4 a one trick pony. I think of it more as a one and a half trick pony as I think it does a pretty decent clean Vox tone as well as the cranked tone most folks buy it for.

I tend to like that fuller sounding bottom end for my clean tones but with such a basic amp, you have to make tradeoffs... if the entire amp was voiced to have a bigger bottom end when the amp is clean, then things would get pretty out out of control when it was fully cranked.

Among the power priced ~5 watt amps out there right now, I think the AC4 is not the worst choice. I think I might slightly prefer the pure cleans of the Champ 600 at very low volumes but overall, taking both cleans and cranked tones into account, I think the AC4 might be the best choice. The Bugera is another obvious choice as it can play loud AND clean at the same time which is something the AC4 and the Champ 600 can't do, but it definitely doesn't have as distinctive of a clean tone as the Fender or the Vox.

Thanks for that Cratz, and I totally agree with you. :) There probably are better choices out there in terms of versitility, but for pure tube sound at such a low price, I don't think you can get much better. I'll put a few more picture up in a bit for you guys :)

The AC4 is pretty sweet. I have the AC4TV10 and I wish I had the 8 (and I'd kind of like to try the Mini.) I use it for my home practice amp, but I have mic'd it for gigs and it sounded good.

If you like VOX tones, then this is a great home package.

Congrats and enjoy!
