I have not been posting as much as I just had a job change and am working my booty off. It's all good.

Dustball is doing well this semester (so I've been told by him) and is really getting into college now that he gets to actually attend class. First semester this year was done online and Dustin had a hard time actually finding the motivation to do the work. I mean at home, in PJs, eating sugar smacks watching DVDs or doing schoolwork for a teacher you never see. I'm glad he was cleared for attending classes.

I also know that Dustball has forgotten (again) his password for HC and created a new account. He has been doing a little lurking here and there and now can be seen as "guitarslayer". He is looking into getting a personal workstation type of 4 track thing. Maybe the Boss Micro BR.

So all news on the Dustball front this week is good news! He was scheduled to visit Dr's yesterday but it has been rescheduled for next week. Last week's visit was A-OK!

Again I thank you for all of your kind words, prayers, mojo and support. You guys still rule!

good news, Kev - glad things are ok

my uncle came home today from a cancer surgery - doctors are optimistic, but won't know anything til next week's labwork

a friend and local musician (and former bass Player for M.O.D.) also has been diagnosed and undergoing treatment - the benefits have been rockin, he's a very popular guy here in Austin, which helps a lot since he has no insurance

{censored}in cancer is an asshole

Great news, Kev. Saw the Baddogs (Now the Burn) yesterday. Not the same without John and Lane. Maybe we could talk Lane into playing with John on the Thunder? That team kicks ass...Literally. No practices, just games and they are always #1 or#2 in their division.

Let me know.

Continued thanks for all things positive.

Dustin did well at Dr's. last week although the chemo did cause him to miss a day of classes. That seems like cake to me nowadays.

JJ,
Hope your uncle is kicking his cancer square in the {censored}.

John,
Lane is still a BadDog he has been out on Dr's orders due to MONO! Uh Oh!!
It would be cool to see the boys playing together again though. Lane Turned 15 Saturday Dustball turns 19 the 21st sheesh I'm feelin' old all of the sudden.

Rock out HCEG you all make this the very coolest forum on the interwebz.

MOJO sent and prayers as well.

If you have not already I recommend setting up a Caring Bridge web site to help you share what is going on with family and freinds. You will be amazed at the reach of it. It is a great tool especially when you realize the impacts Dustball's cancer has on folks you might only tangentially know.

Good luck and God Bless

Matt :thu:

I am writing this from a room in the Tomorrows Children's fund clinic at the Hackensack University Children's hospital:

We don't know what is wrong yet if anything.
Sunday Dustin's mom called me to inform that Dustin had been having headaches frequently over the past week. I called Dustin and confronted him about it and made him promise to call me when and if he had another. Monday around lunchtime he called with another headache.
I was on the phone immediately to his oncology group to get him seen. I don't know if you all recall but headaches like the ones he is describing now were the only outward clue of his relapse lase Jan.

His oncology team ran all of his chems/labs and his levels looked ok with the exception of his bilirubins which were high. That test is an indicator of liver function. The team also noticed that the whites of his eyes were a little yellowed which is also an indicator of liver function woes.

Dustin last had Chemo injected into his central nervous system (spinal fluid) on April 3rd and at that time the fluid came back clear of cancerous cells.

His oncology group conferenced with the bone marrow transplant team that got Dustin's leukemia under control this past summer and they decided that he would be seen by those specialists as there may be some graph versus host issues in his liver

That is where we are today. They just took a ton more blood work to test and he has an ultrasound of his liver @ 3:00.

Again, I am scarred {censored}less. When will this kid get a break?
His mom is a mess as are his brother and sister, they know what the headaches brought last time.

I'll keep you informed.
Looks selfish to see that the majority of my posts are during tough times in here then long bits of not posting because things are going smoothly. I guess it's as much for my therapy as it is to inform you folks of his progress. Either way I feel the need to ask again for prayers and mojo. I don't know what I'm going to do if the news is bad. Hopefully I'll be reporting that this is all a false alarm soon.

Peace

Hey man, no shame in your posting habits, totally understandable. Like you say, the kid is way due for a good break - here's hoping he gets it at 3pm today and forever more. Hang in there, and all the best to you and your family, especially Dustin.

MANY prayers coming your way man. No worries at all on your posts. I always assumed when you didn't post that life was approaching normal, and that is/was great news unto itself. Hang in there, and know that you remain in the thoughts and prayers of this entire community.
