Members dmc69
I've got an old MIJ Fender body lying around, but I've got no trem for it. It used to have a system 1 trem on it, but I bought it without one. I have the studs for it though. A Floyd won't work because stud spacing is smaller by a few millimetres and searching on google gives me nothing.I don't want to drill anything in it to accomodate another trem either. I could buy a system 1 trem I suppose... but those go for about $150-$200 (trem arm separate), which is RIDICULOUS! So, is there an alternative to a system 1 trem? Something that's a drop in replacement, obviously. I thought I'd ask around before sinking $200. (Good thing this body isn't a system 3 body. That would be an absolute nightmare!) Members ianlange11
after looking, here you go, Guitar fetish to the rescure. Are you talking about the Floyd with the cutaway pivot edge? OP, what is the post spacing of the Sytem 1? I have a Squier back home with one but don't have access to it right now.
Members dmc69
plug with dowels and redrill for a vintage trem? I'm aware that's an option, but I don't really want to drill holes right now. And I have a few vintage bridges at home already.

I have a Squier back home with one but don't have access to it right now. It's one of those Schaller trems. I can't tell you the spacing off the bat as I left it at home as well and won't have access to it. But it's one of these: http://t3.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcTjBgJhfU3bu230NUOJhuuRs13M8l-tgpr2ki9jdpL_H3E2fZil&t=

Members stratotak
If this is the trem.. Then If you went with that USA strat one..The saddles to me look like they would be to far back. The pivot point are in front of the saddles. While the System 1 are back and off to the side of saddles.I would think you would have to plug holes and redrill so to get intonation right. Or maybe Im wrong. To me it looks like a floyd would work.Pivot points are the same.
Members webwarmiller
Your not going to find another trem that can use the existing posts. They are spaced around 80mm if memory serves me right and Floyd spacing is 74mm. Also don't attempt to get one of those trems where one side of the base plate is a blade and they claim it will work for different post spacings. I mean, sure, it might physically fit on them; BUT it will NOT be centered. It think the only other trem I know of with ~80mm spacing is the Yamaha RM ProII, but that's a whole different can of worms and it would be harder to find than the Fender System 1 (which is a better trem anyway). Members dmc69
Sigh... I wish I did a little more research before buying this body. But MAN system 1 trems are really good IMO! I like them better than my OFR. System 3 trems are a whole different story - trem arm with hex keys built in, strings don't detune if you bend/snap a string, tension can be adjusted with the trem arm's hex key... Why did they stop making these?!?
Members Malcolm Ramone
(Good thing this body isn't a system 3 body. That would be an absolute nightmare!) You got that right! I used to have one, and ended up filling the hole with bondo and making it a hardtail... -Adam
