Here she is, my latest moon-centric Gibson acquisition, circa 2002! She just arrived yesterday via USPS Express shipping from California, and man! I'm in love already! I love the darker wood than the worn cherry ones, and this one is just warm in every respect!

(I also have another recent Gibson moon-centric guitar purchase from a fellow forum member here, but that's in the shop having a bit of binding work done on it; pics will be posted when I get that one back too!)

Anyways, here are the dealer's pics of the SG that made me fall hard for 'er, I'll post my own later:

Thanks folks!

I can't tell you how long I've been looking for one of these with the moon inlays & darker finish, but all I was finding were trashed and/or cherry ones, and just when I was about to give up on it, this one came along. Actually, there was this one and another on eBay, but that one was pretty trashed on the back of the body and just didn't call to me. The moment I saw this one, I emailed the dealer (guitarsushi.com) and told him I wanted it immediately, thus beginning the haggling process ...And that was less than a week ago! Luckily for me, I recently offloaded a few pieces of outboard gear on Craigslist so I had the cashola and the wife could only watch in horror as I placed an order for "yet another" guitar...

;)

I have to tell you, this one plays really well after I did a quick setup on it (the dealer told me that he had a set of sh1t strings on it for the photos and to replace them immediately) and dressed the fretboard with Fret Doctor (to prepare it for the dry winters here in the "nort" USA). And the sound is really awesome too; it has that really fast attack that LPs don't seem to have, at least to my ears. Sounds good clean, overdriven, and beyond!

Thanks Guys!

Only issue with the case is that the little cover cloth is missing, but it looks like there are a bunch available on ebay, so I'll probably grab one from one of those outlets.

Time to crash for the night. Later.

That is one beautiful looking SG, what model is it? Congrats on the new guitar!

Thanks! It's a 2002 Gibson Faded SG with crescent moon inlays and ebony fretboard. I'm sure you can get all the details on it by Googling it. Plays like buttah!

Nice!!! I have an '01 in brown that I put some chrome pick up covers on.

Cool. I'm putting some standard black top-hat knobs on this (white numbers), a black switch top, and a blank truss rod cover plate. I want to keep the stock pickups, so I'm trying to minimize the chrome and enhance the black. Pics when done....
