Members kayd_mon
Yes indeed, PRS guitars are sweet as they come.
Members songsforbears
I gotta go Taylor, sorry! In my opinion, they get the same quality at far better prices.
Members GreatDane
i would probably go with PRS as well. i have never picked up a PRS guitar that didn't play and sound really nice. more than a few of them even sounded incredible.

Members mr maple
Any one of the bigs except Gibson. The last Gibby I bought was a lp "supreme" and the headstock binding was crooked and had broken lines. They have a lot of nerve demanding that much money for pure garbage like that. I bet the cheapest Fender could whoop any non-custom shop Gibson's ass.
Members SpaceProg
G&L. IMO, of course. I've yet to play a dog. Oh crap, you did say "large American guitar company" didn't you? Eh... I've not found it yet.
Members DavidMgT
Taylor is top notch as well -
Members A3C
I've bought several new gibson's and never had an issue with QC. Y'all are too damn picky and obsessive over stuff that amounts to nothing.
Members faberbz
PRS makes fine instruments, very fine. Their finish work is some of the best in the industry at all of their price points. Fender does, too. At a given price point, you can pretty much expect a consistent product, and they turn out thousands. Remember, QC is about ensuring that you turn out a product exactly as intended, not necessarily about the most (fit and finish) bang for your buck. Members Elias Graves
PRS, Taylor, MARTIN. And a good Gibson is about as sweet as thay come. Too bad you have to qualify that. EG
Members Alecto
Yeah, I have to +1 PRS as well. I'm restraining my GAS because I pretty have all the essential flavours but if I was looking for another humbucker guitar, a PRS would be very high on my list. Members mr maple
I grew up a Gibson guy and really loved LP's. My problem with them is that the USA models became too inconsistent during the last decade. I know you are paying for the name, but you can't slack off and expect to compete. I remember plenty of Gibson lovers on this forum who were slamming Henry and believed he was destroying the company and it's rep. I don't know if they are better now and I really don't care, too many other guys do it better. I really hate it, they made some really great stuff in the 1990's (best product since their hay day). Members fretmonster
Not sure they'd qualify in the size dept., but US Hamers are very consistent.
Members Bbreaker
This may be sacrilege, but I don't like most Taylor guitars I've played. The necks don't feel right.G&L is kinda small compared to PRS; Gibson; Fender & Martin.Speaking of Martin, I was very excited to play an Eric Clapton Model and then very disappointed. I was underwhelmed. There's a low priced Martin that doesn't have quality bracing that I think will fold over time. Ever since Martin came out with those multi grained necks and flat black budget line, I've looked at them as forgetting their standards.I love Gibson BUT you need to try as many as you can to find the one.I used to think Hamer was an incredibly fine guitar but I played a few dogs lately. Not trying to start a flame war with Hamer lovers. Okay, early Hamers were just flat out great. I think they set such a high standard that's difficult to maintain. I think Rickenbacker has great Q/C but they're an old company that wants to be run like a small company.McInturff; Melancon; Brian Moore (American, not the i series); Tom Anderson James Trussat; Don Grosh; McNaught; Driskill; Crook; James Tyler; Pensa; Collings; Nik Huber; Warrior.........are all relatively small but make top shelf instruments.
