Cutting and planing that off would have been an option if the parts were beyond reasonable repair. If that had been all that had been done to it, then it might be a fun project but would require some way to fix the balance or I'm guessing it would neck dive like a mofo. Grafting on a new wing wouldn't be that difficult, but I'd rather just make a new body at that point, and pull the hardware from the half-v.
