Members stratfan7
So I've recently became smitten with these guitars after listening to a lot of Grizzly Bear and doing a lot of research. They seem so within reach for a vintage guitar, and after I get a Jazzmaster one of these is next. Does anyone here own one or have clips of one? What's the best way to locate a semi-obscure vintage guitar like this? Any help would be appreciated.

That guitar is beautiful! And the clip sounds fantastic, both the playing and the tone! Now I know that I definitely need to get one of these. Either the T-100 or T-50 after seeing and hearing yours...
Members Kap'n
T-50's are cool. I played a Hoboken one last summer and it completely kicked ass on the other "higher end" Guild, they had there - a CE-100?

Throw on a set of flatwounds and you could be Barney Kessell or Wes Montgomery.

Members Johnny Z
Guild makes great guitars! More handmade than Gibson's and better craftsmanship. They should sell for way more than they do. I'm on my 3rd Guild, first was a '64 Starfire III when I was in high school, wish I'd of kept it today. Later I got tricked out '70's D40 Acoustic still have today and of course my X-170 pictured.

Members Roy Brooks
I owned a 1970s T-50 for a few months. It was a nice guitar. I bought it at a guitar show in Spartanburg, North Carolina from New Hope Guitar Traders. Look New Hope Guitar Traders online. They have a website. They are reliable dealers who specialize in Guilds. They always have a few older Guilds in stock. Also, Elderly Instruments. www.elderly.com And www.archtop.com Those are both reliable older guitar dealers that I have had some very good business with. If they don't have what you are looking for just keep going back to their sites every few days until the thing you want shows up. Also, go to some guitar shows. Expect to sort through a lot of junk. It is just a matter of being persistent. If you keep looking you will find what you want in good playable condition. I sold my T-50 along with several other guitars to pay for my 1960 Gibson ES-330TD. I currently have one Guild- a 1977 X-175.
Members stratfan7
Thanks for the help so far guys. Is this one a fair price for the condition? http://cgi.ebay.com/Vintage-Guild-T-50-HollowBody-Electric-T50-Sunburst_W0QQitemZ290406763642QQcmdZViewItemQQptZGuitar?hash=item439d978c7a
Members pixelchemist
seems like it... i have seen them go for quite a bit more (double that at the extreme end of the spectrum for a flawless one) one thing to keep in mind though... these don't play like a les paul, es-335, ibanez artcore etc... its a very very different feel much more springy and loose i guess i would say... i happen to really like it... its not for everyone though... you may want to try to play one before you to take the plunge... Thanks for the opinion. I'm not going to buy this one, I was just checking the price in case I do come across one when I am ready to buy. And I would love to check one out, but I'm not sure where to look for something like this. Any recommendations?
Members devonteran
Did you ever find one? I've got one and love it. They're really deep sounding guitars. Not much treble to be had there.

Members Alecto
I own a 64 T-100...:love: Wow, just . . . wow. Don't ever let that beauty go and make sure it goes to a good home when you're too old and frail to play. Guild still makes guitars but they're purely an acoustic brand these days. It's a shame: they made some gorgeous archtops and semi-hollows.
Members jaygolf
I have a 1966 T-50, I want to seel. The only reason I am on here is I did a search on it and this forum came up. I am not a musician and no one in my house is interested so I would like to sell it. I dont know what its worth other than and friend of my sons father offered me $500 for it about 3 years ago. If anyone is interested in it or wants to see more and better pictures, You can email me at jaygolf1@att.net
