I'm undergoing reverse corksniffery

In an effort to free up some money I've been selling my acquired beauties, mostly select MIJ LPs, 50s necks, and

By way of qualming myself I found a nice used Gretsch G5250, which sounds and plays as well as a guitar costing 5 times it's price (bloody fantastic US De Armond pickups), and am now getting some PRS SE gas, and feel no particular desire to cast my eyes up any further at this time of economical hardship.

As I'm a poor noodler at best, this is making me feel somewhat better about my relationship with the guitar and I've been practising 2-3 times a week for the past 3 weeks or so, as I've decided the beginning is a good place to start, so I've been working my way through Rockschool Debut (step below Grade 1)

When I can string some more stuff together I thought about starting a skiffle band;)

Life can be very amusing sometimes

I hear ya.

just remember you get what you pay for

None of my Epi LP's no matter how modded sound as thick and sik as this thing.

It puts everything I've owned previously to shame

and in all honesty $1100 is not too much for one of these (slightly discounted).

they were $1499 in 2007

I keep trying to snag one for decent money, no luck so far

The last two I purchased were $100 each for the chrome part (nice man I deal with gives a discount - he does the set-up and can do the price)

but just two years ago they were a mere $45.

Bugger, they were outside my radar then

Hell, I think it was off the Gibson radar for a time

given the chance to raise a price on a comeback item

they took to it.

But I guess they figure if you'll pay $130 for a vintage Gibson stop tail piece then what's $119 for a TP-6?

I truly have to have it. Overshooting the tuner is a bad state of affairs here.

Sorry to hear about the sell-off Sean, prayers and mojo. I've been fortunate enough to get thorough some medical expenses this year and last with only selling one of my cheapies, and truth be told I mainly did that as a gesture of solidarity with my fantastic wife, who taught an extra university class to help defray expenses.

As you know, I have a Gretsch Special Jet as well, and I'm very pleased you are as happy with yours as I am with mine. In fact I was supposed to play mine in church this last Sunday, but I ended up in for a short hospital stay, so my Joan is presently upstairs in the choir loft wondering where I've got to. ;)

Take care amigo, and enjoy wot you got!
