Not sure if there's already a thread on these, but I just saw them on Musician's Friend. http://backstage.musiciansfriend.com/Guitars/Electric-Guitars/Solid-Body-Electric-Guitars/Anniversary-Flood-Les-Paul-Studio-Electric-Guitar-Green-Swirl.site1skuH71145000002000.sku

The finish is different, that's for sure. What does everyone think? Looks cool? Firebird X on an LP?

I like the look. A sunburst studio will cost you 1300, so that doesn't seem out of line.

High end finishes are labor intensive and a royal PITA to pull off. They are not cheap.

True enough, look at the upcharge for a Jackson with the Eerie Dress Swirl finish. I think its more a question that it's kinda stuck between the perceived "sweet spots" for a studio and a Standard.

These seems a lot nicer, more conservative swirls compared to the old Custom Shop "Bowling Ball" models of the '90's (or the Bowling Ball Strats of the '80's).

I like the Green a lot.

I don't like the burst of the Blue.

Commemorating the Nashville flood?
:freak:

Yes.

This Anniversary Flood Les Paul Studio commemorates the Nashville Flood of May 2010 that caused over a billion dollars in damage and took the lives of more than 30 people. The traditional Les Paul mahogany body/maple top is graced with a distinctive swirl finish with a limited run of 300 guitars in each finish. When the Gibson factory flooded, 55-gallon drums of lacquer spilled. After the waters receded, these swirl patterns were on the floor. Gibson felt they were cool and now they're a permanent part of the floor of the finish booth. The mahogany neck has a 22-fret rosewood fingerboard while a 490R neck humbucker and 498T bridge humbucker harness the resonant power of the time-tested selection of tonewoods.
