Members HanSolo
It's been a while since I went on a binge like this! My goal is to off a bunch of my cheaper guitars that I don't play, replacing them with some quality ones that I really like so ... I was at GC and feeling some separation anxiety after selling my 60th Anniversary USA "Sam Ash" Strat. I made some money on it and really never liked it, but you know how seller's remorse eats at you. I bought this mint 50th Anniversary '57 reissue Strat in Mary Kay Blonde with a nicely flamed, tinted maple neck. I'm really liking it and the tone is very different from any of my contemporary Strats. It has 57/62 pickups in it, vintage spec cloth wiring and authentically warped (!?!) 8 hole single ply pickguard. Cool anniversary neck plate too. With the maple neck vintage strat covered, I also bought this 50th Anniversary USA Dlx Strat with rosewood neck. I haven't even thought about playing my MIM strats since I got it. It's done up like a '62 reissue with 3 color burst, mint guard and creme plastics. Has the 50th neck plate too. Now I can sell the rest of my Strats! I thought I had the cheap guitar gas out of my system but came across a mint Schechter Stargazer in a discontinued finish from a private seller. It has that Ric vibe and even sounds Ric-ish with the pushpull coil taps. I've never owned a Schecter and am pretty impressed. The "Jetglo" Ric knock-off finish looks a lot less pink in real life and the oversize body makes it very resonant too.

Good score, CONGRATS! Funny you should ask about the "missus". Last weekend I broke off my engagement with this lady I have dated for 2 years this. Breakup was non-guitar related (too controlling) but she always ragged about me selling the guitars and my car so she can drive an Audi A8. I went to move my stuff out and found all my guitars piled on the garage floor and my 1971 GTO on the driveway keyed to hell. She claimed the car was vandalized and she didn't intend to damage the guitars (half a dozen sustained some dings and scrapes). It could have been worse, she was going to "pile the guitars in my car (w/o cases or regard to damage) to make it easer for me to move out". I filed charges of criminal damage to property. Man that really sucks, but at least on the bright side you are getting out of a {censored}ty relationship before you got married, have kids, bought a house etc.... Back on topic, not a strat fan but that schecter looks awesome, ive always wanted to try out one of those Oh and to be fair, Audi A8s are pretty nice cars

Moderators Ratae Corieltauvorum Posted March 26, 2011 Moderators Share Posted March 26, 2011 Sounds like you made a good decision to get out of that relationship, a few scratches to your car and some guitar dents are a small price to pay when you consider where it could have lead in the future. Lovely Mary Kaye, but put a gold anodized pickguard on there, and then trade the 71 for a 65:thu:

Members Beckman
Congrats! And, good thing you got out. I love my 60th anniv strat. It has the same 57/62 pickups as your 50th. I went in for a Deluxe strat, and came out with the 60th anniv. $300 less because I did not get the case.
