Members AUDIOSLAVE
I will put knob pointers on my SG, is it necessary to adjust the height of the shafts to have knobs higher, if this adjustement is possible, thanks
Members mrbrown49
Depends. There is usually a nut on both sides, one in the cavity and one on the guitar surface. You can adjust the amount of shaft exposed by adjusting the nut on the cavity side. Whether you need to or not depends on how its set now.

Members kayd_mon
Beware poking one of the pointers underneath your fingernail. Hurts like a bitch.

Members AUDIOSLAVE
The pointers position is online with 10 whel volume and tone pots are maximum, right?
Members Wyatt
The pointers position is online with 10 whel volume and tone pots are maximum, right? Well the final position of "10" and "0" is a matter of what angle you put the knob on at. But if you put the indicator where 10 currently is, that's about right. But yes, if the knob is installed correctly it should line up with with the indicator pointing at 10 when dimed and 0 when turned all the way down. You should need to raise the knob up, the indicator is a washer, it goes down before any of the nuts. If you take one off of a guitar that had them factory installed, you'll see they usually crush into the wood and make a dent when the nut is tightened. But I guess that all depends on how the pots are mounted currently.
Members Fuelish
I've entertained the idea of pointers, but apparently it isn't entertaining enough to myself.... Since I can't see worth a crap, the numbers on the knobs are useless to me at best, so, pointers would be equally useless, unless I felt a need to get a drop of blood onstage to check my blood sugar, or something (...old man joke, I guess... )
Members Armitage
Even if you can SEE them, who cares? You set them to values by how they sound, not to be on 7...

Members Radar-Love
I've been using pointer on some of my guitars since the '70s. I've yet to stab myself with one. Otherwise, yes, replace the top-side potentiometer washer with the pointer. Then align it to where it's visible while you play and sync up the knob numbers with the pointer.
