Tell me about the cheap Schecters (Blackjack, Omen, etc.)

I stopped by a local music store to pick up some strings and picks this weekend, and they had a Schecter Omen hanging up. My kids actually pointed it out to me, and said they thought it looked really neat. And, it was $299. I've never even considered a Schecter. Not that I've heard anything good or bad, they just never crossed my radar. I picked it up for a few minutes, and it seemed like a nice guitar. I have no idea how good the electronics are in it, since I didn't plug it into an amp. I loved the neck, since it had a satin, almost unfinished feel. I hate glossy neck for some reason. What can you guys tell me about them.

I like the mid-range Schecters, like my C-1+, but never got along with the low-end ones - feel like toys, don't withstand the test of time (CL, GC, etc), typically not resonant at all for some reason. Definitely try (extensively, and plugged in) before you buy, and be prepared for disappointment (but maybe there are gems in the rough?). Good luck!

i cut my teeth for 3 years mostly on my c-1 blackjack

its a pretty cool guitar the action on it makes not want to play other guitars

well my 2nd guitar (a 335) should be arriving here soon

so i feel a bit sad abandoning my schecter as my number 1
