Members KevinTJH
I have one of these hanging on my rack, and I recently just picked it up and was amazed by how comfortable it was to play Currently it's got gauge 12s on it and tuned to Drop Bb (I've left it that way for probably half a year). It sounds pretty decent through my PodStudio, but through the amp, it sounds like junk. Even though I play it less than occasional, it's nice to have it sounding somewhat decent. What are some good high output humbuckers that are REALLY cheap? I figured this would also be a great opportunity for me to practice replacing pickups. Currently looking at things like second-hand EMG-HZ H3 or H4 and Epiphone's stock pickup. Not worth getting something too expensive because this guitar is probably only worth $180. Members PunkKitty
If you want high output, look for a Mighty Mite Motherbucker. It's about 21k and available on ebay for less than $50.

I've got a Marshall Valvestate. Since it's in Drop Bb, I use it mainly for metal and chunky rhythm

Members PunkKitty
I would use 500k pots and a .022 mfd cap with a Motherbucker. Considering the output, I might even go with 1 meg pots.
Members KevinTJH
Thanks for the responses! I have a slightly used Rose Alchymist (16k) that I'd be willing to sell for $25 shipped. It's a great sounding pickup. Sounds really intriguing. Who is it made by? Can't seem to find any info about it on google
Members Meowy
Thanks for the responses!Although I'm a huge ebay buyer, I've never come across any of them under $50 before. I must be reaaaaaally lucky to find one at that price.Haven't tried SD forums but I'll definitely give that a try! There's a bunch right now. Yea I have two of the black motherbuckers sitting in a drawer at home. They are the suckiest pickups I've ever heard in my life. When you get the impediance too high on a pickup it Makes your guitar sound like a dam megaphone with nothing but midrange. The white ones on the other hand are fantastic sounding pickups. I have them in two of my guitars and think thay are one of the better pickups for the money out there. They are very dimarzio like with a wide tonal range, nice bite, and break up nicely. The black ones, you'd have to have a tin ear to think thay sound any good .

Members vintage clubber
The Kent Armstrong Ultra Distortion model (M215K) measures in around 21K and it is typically around $40 retail on ebay. It's actually a great sounding pickup for the price and style. I would also look at the GFS VEH model for that particular guitar...
Members bsman
That thing would be "loud" even without any pickup...

I got the distortion/ultra distortion set from this place. http://www.wilburncustomshop.com/Parts/humbuckers.html Better, and way cheaper than Gibson 496/500. Mine are in a First Act Lola. It's mahogany. Any idea what the Spongebob guitar is? I like the GFS crunchy rails in basswood.
