Warmoth Pro Conversion necks

Do not get me wrong here, I love my strat (now a parts caster) but I find I like the scale length and radius of my Les Paul copy much better. I am thinking of getting a Warmoth Pro Conversion neck. Anyone have any experience with them?

I have guitars in three scales, 25.5", 24.75", and 24" and I actually don't notice the scale that much. What I do notice, though, is the profile and width and things like that. Warmoth might be a good idea but mainly because you can customize all your specs, I don't think you should necessarily lock into the thought that 24.75" is necessary.

I have experience and they are great. A couple of things though. I would get a '12' radius not a compound radius. I got the compound and should have stuck with a standard 12 which is more gibson like. The 59 neck profile is not near as thick as a gibson, which {censored} me. It's kind of in-between a modern strat and a gibson. It's a big jump to a boat neck thereafter.

I am going with USACG next time who offer 25inch and 24 3/4 conversion necks and more latitude with neck contours. I have heard good things about them. http://www.usacustomguitars.com/

Thanks billybilly, I was planning on getting the 12" radius anyways. :)

honeyiscool, I can notice a difference. It is slight but it is a difference I prefer. I do agree that width, radius and profile play a more important role. Right now I am looking at getting a neck that is a cross between my American Standard neck on the parts caster and the one on my Les Paul copy. Trying to get the best of both worlds.

I've bought a couple of Warmoth necks - in fact one arrived today, so I'll be able to finish my latest Strat project tonight - and love them. Quality is very high. I haven't tried a conversion yet, but I've thought about it, as I can definitely tell the difference between a 25.5" scale and a 24.75". A 24.75" scale feels - I don't know - rubbery (the best word I can think of) compared to 25.5". I love bending on a 24.75" neck, but I prefer Strats and Teles for tone reasons, so I've gotten used to the longer scale.

What didn't you like about the compound radius?

Too flat in the higher register and although the beginning of the neck claims to be a 10, it feels more like 12 and goes to 16 quite quickly. 12 is comfortable to me and anything after just doesn't feel right. Ideally, a 9.5-12 radius conversion neck would be perfect. I recently had my luthier take down the upper register of my partscaster from 9.5 to 12 and the action can be set a lot lower. It's amazing.
