Members Stackabones
Very cool, but too spendy imo. I'd get one on a Squier'd price, but not a Fender'd one. Pawn shop, ya know? Gimme a deal!
Members twotimingpete
Has anyone caught on that today is April 1st yet? so a store would post an item for sale, let people buy and pay for it, and then say it's fake? what {censored}ing store would do that? have you caught on that you're stupid yet? Members Dogsinotpalc
Premier Guitar already has a video review of these guitars up on its site. Cool, unless they're in on the gag. It would make me appreciate the guys at Fender a lot more if they were just screwing with everyone. If/since they are real, I gotta go with the overall sentiment that they are too expensive...very un-pawn shop like.

The Premier Guitar video shows them playing actual models, plus there's a Fender produced video featuring the guitars. If this is fake, someone spent a heck of a lot of money on an April Fool's joke. If I was a Fender stockholder, I'd be pissed.
Members Dogsinotpalc
It's on Fender's site too. It's either real or a super conspiracy that would fit perfectly in that GJ thread.
Members Dogsinotpalc
I'm not really surprised about the price though. The way people reacted to the Squier '51 and even the high-end 51-sque Strat available from Japan, Fender realized they could make some real money with these designs higher grade materials and building them in Japan, Mexico, or Korea. I wish they all came with trems though, especially the 72.
Members honeyiscool
I don't know that you can compare the web pix like you're doing. Sometimes those pix get stretched out or otherwise distorted. Unless you have definitive confirmation from Fender that the bodies will be different, I wouldn't put too much stock into comparison of guitar bodies based on jpegs. I'd find it highly unlikely that Fender has drastically altered the body. Of course, if you want to keep on being all dramatic, go for it. 1. There's no way you can distort it in such a way that the curves themselves are different. This isn't an angle thing. Someone on shortscale.org (which might as well be the official Fender Mustang fanclub) did a comparison: 2. Why? Wouldn't be the first time they significantly altered a Mustang-style body (see late 70s Duo-Sonic and Musicmaster). 3. I'm not being dramatic. Clearly they altered the body. You're the one that's finding it difficult to believe it.

Members honeyiscool
I will probably get one at some point, too, in red. If I put some Lace Hot Gold Dually pickups in it, use the two three-way up top to select the coils, that would be fun, and for even more fun, I could use the Toronado bridge I have lying around, which would give it a very Duo-Sonic look. Members honeyiscool
If you grew up playing Jaguars, Jazzmasters, and Mustangs, you learn to strum in an angle such that you won't hit those switches. Now, give me a Strat and I'm always flicking to the bridge.
Members sleewell
ya i grew up playing strats so i am vice versa. but that pickup switch just looks dangerously close to where i like to strum and i could find many better places to put it. 98-99% of the time i am sure it would be fine but i know at the worst moment possible i would accidently hit it and look like a fool. i can play fine with them on top, like a LP, but down there at the bottom is just not a good fit for me personally. but a semi hollow fender with dual HB's very much intruiges me, i would love to play one of those. Members honeyiscool
The thing about these offset guitars is that you will naturally strum them at an angle because the bodies want to go up thanks to the weight balance. This is even the case when you're sitting. So it's really not as bad as it looks.
Members GilmourD
I'd guess they're MIM, but that's just a guess. Part numbers start with 026, so I'm pretty sure that's Japan or Korea.

Now, give me a Strat and I'm always flicking to the bridge. I'll attest to this. The two guitars I've owned longest and played most were a jaguar and a cyclone, which had jaguar switches. I never even come near hitting those things, but I will wreck a performance hard with a strat. Though I don't preform...

Members pekelnik
The new mustang body is pretty awesome by the way. I don't like the old mustang body for being too straight and the jazzmaster is too slanted for me.

Now, give me a Strat and I'm always flicking to the bridge. I've been playing a jag for years and I still hit the switches when I go a little nuts on stage. I think I'm going to start duck taping the neck pickup in the on position, since I always have it on when using that guitar. Just last night at a show I killed my sound 2 or 3 times when playing just on the neck.
