Members chrisjnyc
Looking for a 12 string electric... but don't have a lot of cash to buy a Ric 370/12... What can I get for about $200 new or used?
Members mrbrown49
Dano DC59 12 string. They are discontinued so you'd have to find a used one.

Members GCDEF
The Danos are nice, but I don't think you'll find much worth owning for $200. Rondo has these. I have no idea if they're any good, but people seem to speak well of Agile for the money. http://www.rondomusic.com/electric12strings.html
Members BryanMichael
Not much for $200, sometimes something very used comes up on Ebay, and they do have several imports that I've never heard of on there for about $200. You could take a chance on some of those- some of them turn out to be decent guitars and perfect for an upgrade or two a little further down the road. Members guildfire
I picked up my Dano 12er used for around $
Members Lane71
I tried the Dano 12 at a store and did not like it. I took a chance on the Italia Rimini and am very satisfied. It is very comfortable to play and stays in tune.

Members A_Gitarman
Rondo has these. I have no idea if they're any good, but people seem to speak well of Agile for the money. http://www.rondomusic.com/electric12strings.html A friend of mine bought one of those... it's VERY well put-together; every bit as good as the Agile 6-strings However, if you're going for a Ric vibe, you'll probably want to swap out the pickups. I dropped a set of the GFS lipstick humbuckers in my Dean 12-string (which can also be had cheaply... got mine for ~$200) that do the jangle thing nicely:
Members bsman
Never tried one, but I've heard good reports regarding Dean's 12-String Bocas: That are available for around three hundred...
Members Selsaral
I have the fancier model, the Sarasota 12-string Dean. Good guitar. Its only problem is that it's quite neck heavy. Maybe I just need to move the front strap pin? It's a bummer cause the guitar is nice. Wide-ish nut to make it play easy. I've taken it to a few gigs and it was nice. Anyone have an idea on how/where to move the strap pin?
Members Alecto
The best budget 12-string I've ever heard was the Danelectro DC-12; those low-output lipstick pickups are ideal for jangly 12-string tones. If you can find one, score one of the 1990's sparkle-finish models: they have better QC than the current RI's.
Members IBDBB
Davison 12 $200. Mine got new pickups and tuners. http://musiciansdiscountwarehouse.com/12steldagu.html
Members BeanoBoy
I have a Danelectro Purple sparkle 12 string. With my JangleBox, it sounds VERY Byrdsy.
Members stormin1155
I have one of the Deans. I like it... well built, plays nicely. I'll probably replace the pickups at some point. It comes with fairly hot ceramic humbuckers... they sound OK when you roll back the volume a bit, but still don't quite get the Ric jangle. Members bobb
Oh, wildwood still has 2 new ones. http://wildwoodguitars.com/electrics/danelectro/ One mistake on the site. The Dano does have an adjustable truss rod but you have to remove the neck to get to it. Other than that, great guitar for the price. Mine was $425 new. Members Tupelo Son
I would recommend the Danelectro. Simple build, very comfortable, sound GREAT, affordable.
Members Funkwire
Jay Turser Hawk 12. I bought one new (w/hard case) for $325, then traded it in on an Epi G-1275. Which I got rid of when I realized 12 pounds hanging off my shoulder isn't something I can do for very long. Found a used Hawk on e-Bay for $200 and snapped it up. Has ceramic humbuckers, but they can be split, and there's a phase switch as well. It doesn't sound like a Ric, but it does get more jangle than humbuckers usually do. Has a nice wide neck, which is important for my big fingers. Then only drawback on it is it has a 24-fret neck. I can't figure out why anyone would put that on a 12-string. No big deal, just weird. What I don't understand is why guitarmakers drop hot ceramic humbuckers in 12-strings. Most 12-string players play clean and hot humbuckers are meant for overdriven tones, not jingle-jangle tones. Personally, I think low-output single coils are the best for catching that 12-string jangle, and the lipsticks are the best of the bunch. And yes, a Danelectro through a JangleBox = Instant Byrds on a budget.
Members Steadfastly
Here are a bunch on eBay but I would be careful with some of them. The Cozart ones seem to be the best bet for the money you want to spend. They come in a tele or strat design. No doubt the hardware is not the best but you can always upgrade this a bit at a time as you save up more cash.
