Members cratz2
Have any of you ever tried offsets? They are by far more comfortable than strats. Hell, the whole offset design was created so it would be more comfortable sitting down than any of Fender's other guitars. Different strokes, man... I get along fine with offsets but I don't think it's physically possible for any guitar to be 'far more comfortable' than a strat.
Members jtr654
I find Jackson Soloist the most comfortable the body is also smaller.

Members Steadfastly
For some reason, I just don't like the strat shape. They just seem to have this "cheap" look to me for some reason. That said, I do like Steve Vai's white signature strat from Ibanez. And that's stupid for me because I don't really like signature guitars. Go figure! Members docjeffrey
I have a beautiful strat that I play a lot. In fact, it needs new frets and it's only 6 years old. But lately, I've been back on the Lester Polfus. It's like heroin to me.

Members Ancient Mariner
The thing with the strat is that the nicer ones use a wider radius on the body edges so they just don't dig in as much. Many of the cheaper (and some not so cheap) versions use a much squarer edge like a 'super' strat, and that reduces comfort. I could play a 7lb strat all night until the fingers gave out. Members humbuckerstrat
I just got an SD Hot Rails for my oldest guitar (got it in the early '90s), my Epiphone S-310. I'm luvin' the fuzzy midrangey tones I'm getting from it with my Digitech RP255 on a metal setting. The Hot Rails is very reminiscent of Hendrix's Monterey Pop tone and/or the Black Keys. Oh yeah, and I've always gravitated towards Strat copys and the like because they were always the cheapest and best-looking guitars

Can't stand the look of those "super strats" for that reason, whether some imported knock-off or a higher-end Ibanez. Another reason the Strat is so comfy is the balance point. It's amazing how many electric guitars just aren't well balanced. Most are butt heavy, some are neck heavy. The Strat (and Tele) is balanced just right. Members Disco Cat
That original Contour Body is a wonderful thing. The sticker for it, though, is visual noise. Removed it on mine.

Members kherman
I agree, the strat shape is very comfy. But, I just don't care for the heel, the single coils, the neck shape, and the fretboard radius. I love superstrats. 24 frets, neck thru, deeper cutaways, 12, 14, or 16 fretboard radius, OFR, etc.. Just fits me right. But, just good old fashion Standard Strats, I feel like I'm fighting the instrument. I do agree about the more rounded edges on the strat being more comfy vs most super strats. (like the Ibby RGs) Thus, why I was glad that Carvin reissued the ST body shape. It definitely has more of the strat curves and edges compared to the DCs. Members Superrust
It's all about the forearm being on the rolled edges that make is so comfortable for me. With an LP or even a Tele it seems that I need to conform to the front edge rather than it being shaped for me. Love the Strat.
Members Willyguitar
Can't disagree on the comfort front... but once I got into teles, I have never been quite happy with typical strat sounds. In general these days, I don't use my tele that much either (which is a shame cos it's a beauty, light and probably my fave tele ever)... because I can do everything for our band with my junior which does single coil chime and thick Gibson stuff, and enhance some of our numbers (hopefully) with a HB equipped guitar. Members BeanoBoy
I have a Hendrix VooDoo Strat my wife bought me back in,'98. I love it but everytime I play it I tend to lose 'myself' and slowly morph into Jimi/Stevie. When I play my Les Paul I morph into Bluesbreaker Clapton/ Mick Taylor but somehow hold onto my own identity. I use my Strat mostly for rhythm guitar these days and solo with my P-90 or 'bucker loaded guitars.
Members jrockbridge
He got an aweful lot of things right the first time and I completely agree about the overall ergonomics and design. However I think the 9.5 radius, medium frets and fiveway switch are real improvements. +
