Frets99
But the single most comfortable guitar, my tele love not withstanding, that I've ever played was a strat. It always feels like home to me. Nice weight and the body melts into my body regardless of what weight I've been at... I still love playing all shapes and sizes but a strat shape just says play me all night long. Leo, just got it right and IMHO, I can't imagine a more ergonomic shape to work from.

Members soundcreation
almost. I think "super strats" improved the stuff that was already there. namely better heel cuts.
Members Faber
He got an aweful lot of things right the first time and I completely agree about the overall ergonomics and design. However I think the 9.5 radius, medium frets and fiveway switch are real improvements.
Members roygbiv
I have to agree with you. I prefer the SOUND of other guitars, but the strat is the most comfortable body shape for me too. second on my list is the BC Rick Warlock.
Members kayd_mon
Yes indeed, Strats are very comfortable to play and hold. The Jazzmaster is pretty sweet, too!

Members mistersully
after finally picking up jeff beck live at ronnie scott's on blu ray today... my current strat love knows no bounds and the fact that my favourite local shop just got in a trussart similar to this is killing me

Members webwarmiller
Couldn't agree more. The Strat body shape with its contours and well radius'ed edges is super comfy. I've got some Jackson/Ibanez/Yamaha superstrats that fail to be as comfortable simply because the edges are virtually squared off. The only guitar I have with a more comfortable body is my Yamaha Pac921. It has what Yamaha calls a Bi-axial body bevel. The thickest part of the body is 1 11/16ths at the lower bout yet tapers to 1 3/8" at the upper horn (1 1/2" at the lower horn). The forearm bevel is more gracefully curved that your typical strat as well. And lastly it has a zero heel bolt-on neck that's super sick.

Members Jkater
The Yamaha PAC904 has a body quite different from the lower Pacificas. It is VERY smooth in contours and edges. By a long shot, the most ergonomic guitar i own.

By a long shot, the most ergonomic guitar i own. Much better neck heal design too. It's mildly contoured and the recessed washer design is a nice touch. Beats an extra 1/8th inch of neck plate any day.

Members epi56ebony
After many years of not bonding with my 56 black strat (custom shop), I finally had a tech really work on it and I've been bonding with it for the last 2 weeks. I never gave up on this Strat and I think it's finally playing great for me. Time will tell, but it's feeling better than ever, so this is a very timely thread. Strat #1 especially the bridge/middle position!
Members webwarmiller
Well, since we have a little Yamaha love fest... Hey, where did the heel go???? Yes, the forearm contour extends all the way past the rear strap button....
Members nuke_diver
Not going to argue My first electric was my MIM strat because I sat at the guitar store for 2+ hrs playing every type of guitar they had (LP/Tele/Strat etc) and the strat was by far the most comfortable to play. Since all the sounds coming out the amps were pretty much the same comfort was the deciding factor. Having replaced the pups with BG V60's and getting a refret with SS frets it's now not only my most comfortable but probably my favourite guitar to play too...though it's close with the Reverend and the tele

Members Snappy Hat
I remember reading a long, long, long article with Ken Parker about his guitars and ergonomics. Fascinating read. My parker fly deluxe was the most comfortable body to hold and play . The neck however was too thin for me and sold it . So without the parker ya my strats are nice to play. Members Alecto
I lusted after a Strat when I was a teenager but for some reason I never bought one; got a Telecaster instead and then had a bunch of Gibsons for 7 years. Finally scored a used American Deluxe with Kinman pickups in 2006, slapped a Warmoth SRV neck on it and never looked back. I now have 3 Strats (my #1, a baritone and a 50's Roadworn) and I love them. Members ZeppelinPie792
Have any of you ever tried offsets? They are by far more comfortable than strats. Hell, the whole offset design was created so it would be more comfortable sitting down than any of Fender's other guitars.
