Quick question: is the Jazz Bass shape comfy?

I'm about to pull teh trigger on a Squier Vintage Modified Jazz Bass. Because I use bass primarily when recording, I'm just concerned with how the body shape feels when playing sitting down. Does the whole offset-waist thing make a difference?

I love strats BTW, and this thing looks similar to a strat!

Quick answer; yes.

Long answer: depends on allot of factors, what do you consider "comfy" what are you sitting on? What position is your body in when playing? How do you hold the bass? Which leg do you tend to rest the bass on?

And lastly, after playing bass for over 30 years and after playing literally hundreds of basses, all shapes sizes makes and models, I dont think I have EVER encountered a bass that I coudnt instantly adjust into some position I would accept as comfortable when sitting down. Unless the bass doubles as an s&m torture device that drives spikes into your scrotum, I think you will be quite satisfied with the comfotability of a jazz bass.

Thanks! I just ordered it, using Musician Fiend's 10% sale :thu:

I'd ordered a cheapie Yamaha 2 weeks ago, but it was a sad affair. The fretboard dye rubbed off on my fingers, and the lower horn was downturned at such a sharp angle that it would stab into my thigh when playing!

I'm sending back the Yammie and looking forward to the Squier. Duncan Designed pickups.... I hope it's a good deal!
