70's Ibanez stuff: worth a look?

I'm in a bit of a gear funk right now; I'm in the process of moving, and I'm considering selling off everything but my SG Classic and a couple of amps.

If I do end up having a mass sell-off of guitars I'm not really playing, I want to put that money into a guitar or two that will stick around for the long haul. I play a lot of bluesy riff-rock stuff (Black Keys are a major influence) and also a lot of stuff that's in the vein of Neil Young's 60's and 70's electric stuff.

So. For some reason, I'm eyeing the older Ibanez models, the Artist, the Iceman, that stuff--how good are these guitars? What sorts of things should I watch out for? I had an old Electra Omega X230 (set-neck LP copy) that I really loved; is the comparable Ibanez stuff from the same era as good? Same factory?

Thanks. Show me your late 70's/early 80's Ibanez stuff! And Electras! and whatever else is Japanese and from the "immediately post-lawsuit" period that I should keep an eye out for!

Here's my '77 Ibanez LP copy. It's a bolt on neck guitar, but don't let that fool you.

It's quelled my need for a real Gibbie LP. I bought it for my dad years ago when he wanted to start playing again. He passed it back to me when he could no longer play it. It's a great guitar. It's got Super 70's with Flying Pan insignia on the pickup covers, and the nice florentine bridge. It's got a nice slim neck too. I love it.

Gonna have to take better pictures of it though. :)

The 70's and 80's Ibanez made in Japan at the Hoshino Gakki plant were and still are the best of the best. This one is my 83 AM 205. It's a 339 style guitar that was made many years before Gibson supposedly came up with the idea of a 335 with a smaller body. The build quality is superb and the sound is nothing less than killer. If you like a full size 335 style the AS 100 is the one to look for. Neither are all that cheap these days but well under a 335 and much better guitars than any of Gibson current offerings.
