I'm a two guitar guy.

I have my guitar I play for school (an arctic white Hagstrom swede) which has a more professional look

and I have my guitar that I play live for my band (fender strat) that is also my project guitar (repainted modified ect)

But I'm thinking of selling my Hagstrom because of the thicker neck it makes it more difficult to play some more of the abstract chords.

So what would you suggest for a good thin neck guitar in the price range of $500-$700

Most of the recent (last 3 or 4 years) Hagstroms I've played had necks that were much thinner than I prefer.

Maybe the Swede isn't one of them though.

Do you want a neck that is thinner than a standard Fender C?

Well, I've upgraded mine quite a bit so I don't know that I can suggested them in stock form, but the main reason I like the Ibanez AX120/125/AXS32 line is because their necks are so similar to the Fenders which is my preference. I'd characterize them as very slightly thinner (front to back) than a typical Fender C profile neck.

First two are Korean AX120/125s and the last is an AXS32 which was too lightweight for me, so I sold. I've had much nicer guitars but the first silver one is probably my favorite humbucker guitar I've ever owned. And you can usually get them pretty cheap when you can find them. I paid $60 for the first silver one and about $90 for the black one. Upgraded the pickups, pots, switch on both of them and the nut and tuners on the silver one. I really like these guitars a lot.

And at a lower price point, the GAX70/GAX75s have cheaper hardware and are not built in Korean (like all the above guitars are), but it has a pretty similar neck. Maybe worthy of testing one if you happen to see them. I refinished this one and upgraded the pickups and pots. It needed a bit of fretwork to get up to par, but these go for silly cheap when used. I've seen over a dozen of them for $50 or so and almost always go for under $100. I'm not really suggesting you buy one of these, just if you seen one, give it a whirl and if you like the neck, maybe seek out one of the ones I mentioned up top.

"Hagstrom" and "thick neck" doesn't match up at all. Something strange is afoot.

You could double up on a Strat and just go with a different pickup loadout. Strats are wonderful beasts like that. Say, mahogany Strat with some 'buckers?

Its more of the width of the neck. Whenever I need to hit the root with my thump and play the top 4 at the same time I find it almost impossible to do.

Have you thought about a Tele? It'll probably have a neck similar to your Strat. There's a few double-bound models that look pretty classy plus some versions with double humbuckers if that's your thing (the '72 thinline, the '72 Deluxe, etc.).

Been looking at a Danelectro Dead-on 67. Anyone ever played one before and knows what how it plays?

Are those the ones that kind of look like a butt? If so, I've heard good things. I owned one for a while that was called a Dano Pro, which I believe was very similar in specs, and I thought it was put together very well.
