Members sxyryan
Hey all, I got this for Christmas (thanks Mom!) But I wanted to make a full decision on it before posting it. Well, I played in the last two shows with my band, and it worked really well soooo (these are from Tuesday night): It took me a little while to make it usable. With the stock strings it was way too bright and the upper strings didn't want to come out very loud compared to the lower ones. I made a set of strings from two sets of EB 11's, and played with the pickup height a good bit. It's not perfect, but very very usable. I think the next step will be to find a new pickup for it (the pickup is half of a P Bass pup) and do a full electronics upgrade. I may even mount some kind of Piezo system in it, if I get energetic. Members sxyryan
I wish I had some, but at the same time, I'm glad I don't. The event was a fundraiser for the University's radio station. They hired "professional" sound guys. They were rude, and the sound was terrible. I asked them to mic our bass amp, and he called me retarded. For my rig, I run two amps in stereo on different sides of the stage. He wanted to mic the amps, of course, so I asked him to pan one to each side a little bit to give the stereo effect I am looking for. He just yelled at me and told me he'd take care of it (as in don't tell him how to do his job). I know these things can be a little stressful (as I run sound on occasion, and typically do it for my band), so I try to be polite and helpful. They had a ton of gear, way more than necessary, and were total assholes to everyone. If you needed something, they were nowhere to be found, but as soon as you started eyeing something they brought (I happened to be a little curious of these mic holders that clipped onto the amps) they would pop up and give you a sales pitch. I guess they sold/installed live sounds stuff along with actually running sound.
