Members FarToMany Posted April 24, 2011 Members Posted April 24, 2011 I have been trying to locate a strap button I have seen on occasion. It is one that is attatched via a neck plate screw. I bought an 90's Epi Firebird and it is unbalanced where the stock button is on the top horn, but I backed one of the neck screws out a little and attched the strap on it to try---perfect. I know I have seen them in the past but can't find them now. If you can help, much appreciated

Members FarToMany Posted April 24, 2011 Author Members Posted April 24, 2011 I'll see If I can find a pic. The issue with a normal strap button is that the neck plate screw is too large to go through it---and I highly doubt there is enough material there to drill it out. Obviously a longer neck screw is needed to compensate for the added length with the botton on there.

Members notjonahbutnoah Posted April 24, 2011 Members Posted April 24, 2011 Hows about a thin washer, and just both that strap on there permanent like.
Members Surfdude Posted April 24, 2011 Members Posted April 24, 2011 I have a Kramer with the strap button on the neck plate. However, there is another hole drilled for it, right in the middle of the cover. Problem solved. Surfy

Problem solved.Surfy I've drilled out strap buttons to accommodate a larger screw but I think like this solution better.

But I would get another neck plate if I am going to have to drill through it. Not saying my Epi Firebird is super rare like a '59 LP, but It has taken me about 10 years to find this one. So keeping anything original ---well, original is important to me. The extra hole drilled would simply be covered by the stock plate if it ever went back on. This might just be easier. Thanks.
