just picked this up today http://www.schecterguitars.com/Products/Guitar/Solo-Vintage.aspx

love it so far. plays so well and sounds pretty good. I love the bigsby on it, really nice.

just wondering what anyone might know about this - I'd love to change the pickups on it. right now they are "duncan designed" ones. they sound kinda flat. are they supposed to be modeled after filtertrons? also, the coil splitting is much quieter than the "normal" sound. can that be fixed with new pickups or electronics?

thanks!

Do like! Congrats!

Coil splitting will always result in a volume drop. If you want to roughly maintain volume just keep the volume knob set to mid-range when both coils are engaged, and then turn up to full volume when you coil split.

I was going to buy that exact guitar but bought the solo 6 custom instead. When I was going to buy yours, the first thing I would have done was replace the pickups. Those duncan designed pickups are not good. I wouldn't consider GFS pickups an upgrade either. Yes, I am a pickup snob. It depends what you are looking for in a sound. I really like BG's pickups, who gives forumites discounts and of course, Fralins. Fralins are the best but of course that's subjective and they are pricey. I like real duncans and dimarzio's too. I find dimarzio's smoother than duncans but of course this is a generalization.

Enjoy your axe regardless, very nice!

Looks very cool! As for pickup upgrades, if you aren't opposed to spending $250 or so (for the pair) then definitely check out TV Jones. I would think TV Jones Classics or PowerTrons would sound great in that guitar.

I've been curious about the new TSH-1 myself
