Wiring Diagrams

I've followed a few wiring diagrams to wire or rewire guitars...only done it a few times, but I didn't learn anything.

 

What's the best way to learn to understand guitar wiring?

 

Is there a simple rule of thumb for changing a humbucker from series to parallel, like "Just move the pickup hot wire from this post to that post"?

You just need a basic understanding of circuits, components and how they work. Guitar electronics are pretty simple so it doesn't take much to get a hold of the basics.
