Members onelife
[video=youtube;M6xtSbGBydM] [video=youtube;Da9lBOSJhR4] As singers, songwriters and guitarists these guys 'compose' their guitar parts and it seems to me that everything they do serves the songs. I think their approach is similar in that their solos follow the changes in the songs like the vocal lines do resulting in timeless guitar parts that can be listened to over and over again. Members Willyguitar
Yes, and neither of them are very posery! Actually, I think Gilmour is beyond brilliant. For me, Knopler is just brilliant.
Members billybilly
I saw a BBC documentary about Pro Rock that claimed Gilmour made Waters switch the solo parts of songs in odd time signatures to 4/4 rather than learn to solo in whatever weird stuff Roger was playing with. and...? Members cratz2
Over the last 30 years, they are definitely my #1 and #2 guitarists... Gilmour will always be my favorite though.
Members Brian May
Great players indeed! Espesh (for me Gilmour) but my all time fave is that bloke in Queen...cant think of his name tho.
Members BeanoBoy
I admire both guys. Mark's music lately, is a bit lethargic, bordering on dull. Gilmour's recent solo stuff is pretty good. I don't listen to them all the time but when I need a lesson in economy and taste, these guys never fail me. For me, Knopler is just brilliant. I love both too, but I'm actually the opposite. I think Mark is even more of an amazing guitarist than Gilmour. Knopfler is one of the most melodic players out there and his LP tone is to die for.
